Blinded Love : A Tokka Fanfic

Prologue

   Both the fanfic and Prologue take place about 12 years after the 100 Year War. In my fanfic I have adjusted the ages just a bit. Sokka is 26, Toph is 24.

(A few months ahead of present time)

   It was late and completely pitch black. Of course Toph was used to it, being blind and all. She was laying in bed at Air Temple Island. Aang and Katara had invited the Gaang to come and stay for the weekend. They had plans to just relax, swim and spend sometime together.

     Toph was unable to sleep that night, she was too worried to do so. After countless minutes of trying to sleep, Toph decided to see if anyone was awake. She stretched her leg out from the bed and touched her foot to the floor. She immediately sensed the vibrations throughout the building. Aang and Katara were asleep as well as Mai and Zuko. There was one person awake and she could sense something was wrong. She could see a person sitting on the edge of the bed, head in their hands. Not only that, she could tell that they were crying.

     Concerned, Toph slipped out of bed, revealing a olive green robe. She ran her hand along the wall to help guide her as she left her room. Being careful to not wake others, she walked slowly and softly. She was almost at the end of the hall when she noticed the crying grew into sobs.

     Without knocking, she opened the door to reveal the Watertribe's Man, Sokka. His head was in his hands, just as Toph's vibrations had picked up. His hair was loose, out of his little ponytail. He wore nothing but blue shorts. Although Toph couldn't see him, he looked rough. He had been crying too much to even notice the door open.

     After standing there for a few seconds, she spoke up. "Snoozels? Are you okay?" she called out. Her voice was heavy with concern for her best friend.

     Sokka jumped at first, only to realize it was Toph standing in the doorway. He opened his mouth to speak but no words came from him. There was a short moment of silence between them until Sokka had an answer for her question.

"I cant be Chief anymore."
