"One was caught but the other got away, we assume he had some sort of speed type quirk. His face has been identified but his whereabouts are unknown." Ryujin said, he placed two photos in front of Y/N.
One had a stamp that said 'detained' and the other didn't. Her eyes took in every detail, an ugly mop of green hair, a smug look, crooked yellow teeth, and a pair of eyes that mocked her.
"You can go see the other one," The captain suggested.
"Good, take me there." She got up from her seat and headed for the door. When she opened it, the person on the other side looked at her with tired eyes. Maybe even worse than hers. "Eraserhead, what brings you here?" She asked.
"Same reason you are," he said to the girl before looking up at Ryujin, "Sorry I'm late, what were you two talking about?"
"We were just heading to see one of the captives," the captain raised the photo of the detained man.Shota looked at Y/N then turned her around, "I suggest you don't." He pushed her back to the chair and made her sit.
The h/c haired girl clicked her tongue and stood back up, she wasn't in the mood to bother with him, she was still going, "You don't get a say in what I do." She warned, glaring up at the eraser hero.
"He does, though," he pointed towards the captain who was looking back and forth between the girl and the hero.
"Do you two know each other?" The captain asked.
Y/N groaned and pushed past him and out of the office, she was just going to have to ask the front desk. She was going to ask him everything then give back what he gave to Umi - a thousand times worse. She didn't care what Aizawa said or Ryujin, she wasn't going to let him stay in jail without suffering.
Shota sighed, he knew that even if he tried he wasn't going to get through to her. The past was repeating itself. He turned to the captain who had a look on his face that said he didn't understand what was happening, "I'll be right back." He walked out of the office and to the front desk where she was already talking to someone about letting her visit.
His hand slammed down on the desk and looked the woman behind in the eye, "I'm sorry about her, she thinks he's someone she knows but she has a bit of a memory problem."
"What!?" Y/N's brows knit together in frustration, "shut up and-- hey!"
The hero wrapped his arm around her waist and dragged her back to the office even as she struggled. "Aizawa, let me go!"The two struggled against each other as they made their way back to the office, the hero was able to push her in and shut the door behind them, "I already said, you don't get a say in what I do!" She punched the nearest wall then pressed her forehead against it. "What are you even doing here?"
"I was the one who found her," he grabbed her wrist and made her sit down. "Before I could even erase the other one's quirk, he had already run away. I called for an ambulance and the police."
She sat there and looked him in the eye, all night she kept wondering who could've found her. She ruled out the possibility of it being a hero and assumed it was someone coming home late at night or a driver who noticed her body be lit up by the headlights, "What else?" she asked.
"I couldn't take her to the hospital anymore, it was too far and she was too far gone. I stayed with her until the police arrived," he sighed and wiped the tears rolling down her cheeks.
She slapped his hand away, "Did she say anything..."
"Nothing, they had stuck something down her throat, she wasn't able to say anything."
Ryujin handed her a glass of water and let her take a breather, she must've been such close friends with that girl that it would affect her so much. He went back to his desk and pulled out a phone placed in a ziplock bag, "I would've given it to her sister but, I think it would be better off with you." He placed the phone in her hands after he took the now empty glass.
She pulled the phone out of the bag and quickly unlocked it, on the screen was a reminder that said, 'date night with N/N <3'. Y/N pressed it to her chest and broke. If only she knew what Umi was thinking during then, if only she hadn't left her alone, she was going to tell her something. What was she going to say? What was so important that it made her ignore her warnings and leave the house?
"I'm... going home." She got up and bowed to Aizawa and Ryujin before walking out.
Walking home alone was a first for her, there was no hand to hold, no happy voice talking about dumb things. The one person she loved and treasured was gone. The colour she had brought to her days had faded to grey. Maybe she shouldn't have pushed her away so much, maybe she should've let her into the things she hid from others - if she just let her.
Her legs betrayed her and instead of standing in front of her house, she was at Umi's. Y/N walked into her home, once again her whole presence filled the room. A smile appeared on her face, it was that presence that made her remember how the once scared and confused college-grad student had made her life far more interesting.
