darkness. darkness is all that surrounds me. all of my life i've played a game of hide and go seek with it. running and camouflaging in with my background trying to be like everyone else.

when the hiding wasn't enough i'd finally be caught. panic igniting a fire inside of my head making sweat perspire across my skin, my heart beat would become to much making everything become hazy.

panic would take over all of my other senses having the room spin and my lungs hyperventilate. some times these episodes last ten to thirty minutes. the only way i can bring myself back to earth is by grounding.

five things i can see, four i can feel, three i can hear, two i can smell, and one i can taste.

but the thing  is being  locked away in complete and utter darkness i can't ground myself. i can't even tell what is what or where i am. i can't differentiate if i'm feeling panic or if it's just a feeling of normalcy that's been intensified.

the only glimpses of light show up are under the door sometimes i can see footprints but that's where it ends. i feel like a puppy being locked in it's room raising havoc due to separation from its owner.

all time has flown away from me. without a simple glimpse of a sun, it's hard knowing how long i've been in here. it could be days, hours, week, or even months. i try to close my eyes letting my mind screen dreams into my head but nothing comes anymore. for all i know i could be dead right now and this is the afterlife.

being stuck in the middle of my thoughts, the door surprisingly opens. a tall man with curly hair casts his shadow upon me. due to the lack or light my eyes take a minute to adjust. his features slowly coming into picture as i shade my eyes from the harsh white lights of the hallway.

he holds a hard look on his face, his eyebrows are low and furrowed as he flairs his nostrils in authority. he stands with a powerful stance dressed from head to toe in all black.

"nice to see you ace," he speaks.

"ace?" my voice rasps loud enough to hear but barely above a whisper. a slight tickle hits my throat from the lack of talking in the last couple of days.

"don't question me. now would you follow ms..." he pauses. his blackened hair drips of water lightly dampening his suit but the water marks fade quickly.

"blu," i finish off his sentence.

"right." he ends. his face doesn't change at all in expression, he seems like everyone else in here. cold and gone too far away from reality.

i bring my body up to a stand walking behind him

i bring my body up to a stand walking behind him. his clicking of his black combat boots echoing the rhythm coursing through my body. if i was a bug my biggest fear would be his boots.

he leads me to a black steel door standing out like a sore thumb amongst the white ones. it's a bit more secluded something you'd find when you've lost your way. if i found this on my own i would just think it was a hallucination or i was living in an alternate reality. everything i've known has became brainwashed that even something like a simple all black door has stunned me.

he grasps the handle bringing it black abyss towards his body. behind the black door is nothing but empty space. bright lights and white walls nothing else. i can see the entire proximity meters away.

i'd like to question who i believe is named timothee but his whole persona drives me away from doing so. his aura is cold and frigid it's almost as if i'm standing next to a walking icebox.

"cover your eyes." he speaks. he takes a couple of steps foward towards the middle of the room.

timothee's pov

"cover your eyes," i command. walking towards the middle of the room i try to find the lining of a circle.

turning over my shoulder blu stood there with her eyes still open giving me a questioning look.

"put your hands over your eyes," i sigh. i bring my palm towards my eyes covering them. as i peep between my fingers blu slowly covers hers still holding to her lips to the side in question.

man they really messed her up. all the life has been sucked out of her leaving her empty carcass with only a smidge of a soul left in her.

"don't uncover them until i say so," i command, "if you uncover them there will be serious consequences."

she nods her head.

okay, now let me see how i can do this. i haven't been in the room in almost six years. after my training and missions this place was just a place of my nightmares. walking down the same all metal halls hearings the screams are what keeps me up at night.

i move my feet shoulder length apart taking in a deep breathe holding my arms above my head. as i exhale i transfer all of my weight down to the balls of my very own feet.

in brigade they take everyone weight and height measurements using this mantra. i don't understand it at all but who am i to question them.

as i perform this a blue light pops out it's shark fin marking it's territory around me. in front of me the white walls separate opening up entirely to me.

"open your eyes now." i walk towards blu placing my hands on her shoulders ushering her.

as she walks through her eyes widen taking in the new environment i'm welcoming her to.

tall steel buildings cover the streets followed by the fluorescent little shops next to them. people walking around and eating on benches dressed in any attire they'd like as well as do anything they'd like. grocery stores and liquors markets fill in any empty spaces.

this is meseram pacem vel bello bene mutari.

even war is preferable to a shameful peace.
