"Land!" came the shout from the crows nest, I looked up from my perch on the gaff of the main sail.
Travis looked over the side and shot me a grin before jumping over the side and landing in front of me, almost tumbling over before grabbing me to keep balance.
"Why'd you do that, dumbass?" I asked him, "you have crappy balance."
"I have you to support me," he winked as he sat down in front of me, "anyway, are you staying on the ship while we wander around?"
"Probably," I replied, falling backwards and laying down, my hands behind my head and just staring up into the blue sky, "it's nice weather today."
"Come on! Come to shore with me!" he whined, repeating it over and over.
"Shut up," I frowned as I nudged his shoulder with my foot, "You're being too loud."
"Please come with me! You never come on land," he complained, poking my foot.
"Alright, fine, just shut up," I sighed.
"Shutting up," he grinned in response.
"Prepare for docking!" captain Branton shouted.
"Aye, captain," we all chimed before I grabbed the rope and swung down to the main deck, Travis followed after me.
I raised my whistle to my lips and blew on it, stretching my arm out and watching as my Eagle, Apollo, came into sight.
He shot down at me and landed on my arm before moving himself up to my shoulder and got himself comfortable.
"I take it you're not staying on the ship, Arcane," Trent approached me and Travis.
"That's not a problem is it?" I asked, he shook his head.
"I'm glad you're finally going off to have some fun," Trent replied, patting my head.
"I'm not a dog," I frowned at him, "don't pat me."
He just laughed and continued on his way as the docks came into full view.
"You bringing Apollo with us?" Travis asked as he stroked the birds chest feathers.
"Why not?" I asked, "he'd follow me anyway, might as well bring him with me properly instead of just following."
"Fair enough," he nodded as the ship slowed to a stop and A jumped off the side of the ship, I walked over to the rope and tossed it over to her.
"You coming into town today, Arcane?" Irene asked as she carried the platform over to us with the help of Tennant.
"Yeah," I nodded.
"Sounds like fun! Let's all go together, me, you, Travis and A," she smiled.
"Sure, why not," I shrugged.
"Will you move your ass?!" Branton's voice shouted from below the deck.
Myself, Travis, Iris and Tennant all just looked at each other and said: "Esta."
Esta is the laziest person I know. All she does is lay around down below and complains about whatever when she's not sleeping.
Gene and Gale walked over, Gale slumped over Travis' back and grinned at us.
"Wow, Arcane is actually adventuring off the boat," he teased, "I think I've died and gone to hell."
"You and me both, brother," Gene nodded along with him.
"Fine," I turned, "I won't leave the ship."
"Whoa no no no!" Travis grabbed the back of my collar and dragged me and Apollo onto the platform and down it, "you are coming into town. You said you would."
I sighed and just let him pull me until we were on the docks next to A who was spinning her pocket compass around on its golden chain.
"Are you accompanying us today, Arcane?" she asked as Irene walked down next to us.
"Apparently," I nodded as Apollo nipped at my ears, I raised my hands up and flattened them and frowned at the Eagle, "please don't do that... My ears are sensitive. It hurts."
"Oh that's right, I need to get more feed," I nodded, "thanks for reminding me."
"Shall we go then?" Irene asked.
"Yep! Let's go!" Travis cheered, skipping forward.
Myself, A and Irene followed behind him, but we walked like normal people.
I glanced over my shoulder to see Iris standing on the rail of the ship, watching us walk away.
She's one weird woman... One of very very few words, but weird nonetheless. Kind of intimidating because of that.
When I blinked, she was gone. Sighing, I face forward again as we walked off the wooden docks and onto the stone road.
"Where to first?" Travis asked.
"Shall we get food?" Irene suggested.
"I could eat," A agreed.
"Yeah, sure," I nodded.
"Oh. I know a place where we can take Apollo in with us," Travis told us, "I think it's probably going to be the only place that we can eat with him with us."
"Lead the way," A gestured for him to go, he nodded and we began following him through the town.
The feeling of another dragon warrior approaching this town caught my attention and I paused walking to look in the direction that I sensed it.
"Is something wrong, Arcane?" A asked as she turned to me, the other two paused alongside her to look at me.
"No..." I hummed, jogging to catch up, "it was nothing."
"Alright then, don't space out, we don't want to lose you," Irene told me.
"Right," I nodded.
