*Will's POV*

The wool blankets Galen gave me were warm and the couch was comfortable, much more so than both the cot and the mat I used to sleep on, but I still found myself tossing and turning. After days of sleeping next to my mate, being without him felt wrong. As soon as his breathing evened out I slunk into the room. He wouldn't be mad if I stayed on one side, right? I slowly inched my way into the bed and under the covers, instantly feeling better.

*Galen's POV*

An annoying tickle in my ear roused me from my sleep and I looked around. Or rather, tried to because Will had managed to wrap his entire body around mine in his sleep. He'd started out on the couch in the other room, so how he'd ended up in the bed even was a mystery to me. Not that I minded. I was going to invite him to sleep in the bed anyway, but he'd been so timid with me I hadn't wanted to push him. Now, with Will twined around my body, I couldn't imagine him anywhere else. The dependence I'd already formed on this boy was frightening.

I raised a hand up to rub along my chin, something I usually did while thinking, and was surprised to find days of growth there. The whole coma thing was still a blur. I mean I knew it'd happened but it was still hard to comprehend. It felt like only a few minutes, not several weeks. I probably reeked, unless someone had bathed me. Blood rushed to my face as I realized that the job might have fallen to Will. I hoped not. Sponge baths were not how I pictured him first seeing me unclothed.

I carefully slipped out from under Will. Considering how tightly he'd managed to cling to my body it was no small feat. Once I had repossessed all of my limbs I made my way to the shower, grabbing a fresh towel on the way. The hot water was like heaven on my skin. It was as if every sensation was brand new again: the warmth of the water, the softness of my bed sheets, the cinnamon tinged scent of Will filtering in from the other room.

Clean shaven, teeth brushed, and fresh clothing on, I felt better than I had in... Well apparently the better part of two weeks. I knew I had to go tell everyone I was awake at some point, probably soon if I didn't want them panicking when some nurse found my empty infirmary cot, but all I wanted to do was go back to bed. Groaning, I forced myself past my bed and dug through my sea of pack forms until I found my Android. If I wasn't going to leave bed yet I might as well catch up on my pack duties. The second I turned it on a Gmail notification flashed at the top of my screen: 112 new emails. Sometimes being Alpha fucking sucked.

*Will's POV*

Galen was running ahead of me, his thick black fur shining under the sun that was warming our backs. His tongue lolled out in a wolfish grin as he glanced back at me.

"Can't you keep up?" He ribbed and I growled, put on an extra burst of speed to keep pace with him.

"Can't you keep up?" I mocked.

"Please! I could go all day!"

"To bad you can't go all night!" Galen pulled up short and scowled.

"I can't believe you just said that."

"Whacha gonna do about it babe?" I smirked, confident I'd finally won, until I caught the gleam in his eye. He wouldn't dare...

I didn't get to finish the thought before Galen leapt at me, flipping us over and over again in the soft grass of the field. Somehow he managed to pin me down. I struggled against his weight but it was no use. His massive paws pressed down on my chest as he grinned.

"Take it back!"

"Never!"

"I gave you a chance at repentance." He intoned before licking me up the side of the face.

"Galen stop it!" I howled and squirmed under him. My struggles just seemed to make it worse. He dragged his slobbering tongue all over my face, soaking my fur in the canine equivalent of a Wet Willy. I squeezed my eyes shut and increased my struggles, but at the same time I didn't want him to stop. It was rare to see such a playful side of Galen. The licking suddenly stopped and I blinked my eyes open to see his face contorted in what looked like shock.

And that's when the tip of the blade burst from his chest. A sputtering yelp covered my muzzle in a fine mist of blood as he was wrenched from me and his limp body tossed aside. I looked up into eyes as black as pitch as the scent of tobacco wafted through the air.

"Hey faggot," Warner's stained, yellow teeth were revealed in a menacing leer, "You fucking miss me?"

Crying, I bolted upright in the bed. I could feel cold sweat dripping down my back and my heart felt like it was trying to crawl out of my throat. It was just a dream, just a dream, just a...

"Shhh Will, I've got you." Warm arms caught me and crushed my body into a wall of evergreen scented chest. I burrowed closer to him, trying to absorb ever bit of comfort that his presence could give me. Galen was fine. I'm fine, he's fine, and Warner is no where near us. I felt my heart beat slowly drop down into normal ranges and as the adrenaline left my body, so did my energy. I let myself go limp in Galen's arms. His hold never loosened as he laid us both down, rubbing my back and whispering sweet nothings until the last of the dream's fear had left me.

"What did you dream about?" Galen finally murmured after I'd calmed enough to speak.

"I... You... Warner..." I eventually managed to get the words out, feeling bile rise in my throat from just saying his name. I couldn't help the tremors that came with any thought of him.

"Who's Warner? The name sounds familiar."

"He's... was my Alpha... and my father once my mum died... He...he..." I swallowed back a sob. Galen's eyes flashed his wolf's deep shade of amber for a brief moment as a blank look crossed his face.

"Galen?"

"He's who you were scared of. You were screaming..."

"Y-yes... Did you just talk to your wolf?" He nodded and continued to stare at me. I'd never heard of someone who could have an actual conversation with their wolf. We got feelings, images, maybe a word or two if you were very old. Our wolves were a piece of ourselves, not a totally separate being. There were stories of Weres that could, the twin-souled, who's wolf and human forms were equals, but they were just folklore. But nothing else fit how Galen's wolf had been able to talk to me, or how he was able to share memories with him.

"I am Twin-Souled if that's what you're thinking about. Few people know, I'm usually very good at hiding it. But my wolf can't seem to control himself around you. He wants to be with you as well. I'm stronger than he is, so my human form is dominant, but sometimes it's hard to resist him."

"So he likes me?"

"He knows you're his mate. Something he keeps reminding me of." Galen grimaced as he said this.

"What?"

"He has... a different opinion on what a mate means."

"You mean..." I flushed red as I understood exactly what Galen's wolf wanted him to do to me.

"I... I'm gonna go take a shower. I'm all sweaty from the dream." I fled the room to the safe of the bathroom. I'm sure Galen hadn't missed the click of the lock or the fear seeping from my pores. Once alone in the shower I sunk down to the floor, my forehead resting on my knees as the hot spray ran down the top of my head onto my back. Despite the water I couldn't wash away the feeling of filth on my skin.

*Author's Note*

It always really annoys me when authors ask for votes on here but I find myself doing the same thing. There are definitely people consistently reading this book but only one vote. Is there a reason why or do you just forget to press the vote button. Leave a comment letting me know so I can fix the problem if it's my fault. Thanks!
