When I made my way out of the tent, I immediately looked for Peter. I wanted to say something about what happened last night but I sadly found that he was out. so I decided to make friends with the two boys Dallas was with now.
"Hey" I said with a smile.
"Hi" "hi" they both replied in unison.
I laughed at how their voices, looks and even clothes were exactly the same. it was going to be hard to tell these two apart.
They smiled at my laughter, a smile that reminded me of little boys it was so contagious that even after I had stopped laughing I had to smile back.
"Melody right?" One asked
"Just Mel " I replied brightly
The one standing closest to Dallas laughed and muttered something in his ear.
Dallas replied shaking his head "ha ha" he laughed sarcastically.
"Sooooo.... What's your names??" I asked awkwardly.
Dallas scoffed at this and the boys laughed. Their laughter would make any person laugh with them ,if they knew what was going on,
"The twins" they said in unison.
I looked at them confused
"You mean you don't have separate names?"
"Well we're never separate so we don't see the point" the one that whispered in Dallas's ear said.
"Oh"
Dallas quickly broke the silence making sure it didn't become too awkward.
"Let me show you around" he said as I linked my arm atoms his.
"Sure, do they really not have separate names" I asked glancing at the twins again who were now building up the fire.
"Nope" he replied "but they do everything together and have the exact same personalities so we don't mind calling them the twins"
He smiled at me and pointed out the rest of the teenage boys spread across the tents and fired outside of the tree.
I managed to catch a few names like Curly (who had unbelievably blond curly hair which were so tempting to touch) and Tootles (With chocolate brown eyes that would sure melt any girl back home).
Was there something in the water here? Because all these boys were extremely good looking.
Dallas was staring at the sky when I punched him in the shoulder. A bit harder than a friendly punch but a lot softer than a 'I'm gonna knock you out' punch.
"Huh?... Yeah???" He said still dazed as he shook his head.
"Why haven't you grown?!" I asked.
Because whenever I had to shake him out of his daydreams back home I always had to look up because he was at least a foot taller than me. But know he was around the same height.
"Oh" he smirked finally snapping out of it "you don't know why this place is called Neverland?" He asked a smug smile playing on his face.
I shook my head confused, why would the name of the island have anything to do with his height?
"This place is called Neverland because it exists on all corners of the universe. therefore in the centre as well, this means that time is stopped here. We never get old. We never grow. And most certainly none of us will ever EVER grow up!" He said emphasising every syllable.
"Amazing"
"It really is" a voice behind me stated a little to smugly.
I was surprised when I turned and saw Peter there.
"Peter"
"Good morning Mel" he said brightly.
"Can I talk to you for a second?" He asked.
His eyes darting from me to Dallas and back.
Dallas automatically took this as his cue and sped off with a quick
"cya Mel"
"Bye" I waved
When I turned around again Peter was no longer behind me. so I turned a whole 360 degrees in confusion and called "Peter?!"
Only to hear chuckling in return.
But from where he almost sounded above my head... I moved my head slowly upwards and saw him sitting in a tree so casually as if he was a bird himself.
"Took you long enough" he said with so much modesty.
I scoff and look up at him.
"How are we supposed to have a conversation if your all the way up there?" I answered with a smile.
he sighed and flew down to me only to grab my hand and pull me up with him.
"Woah" I said when we finally got up to the highest branch, I was amazed that he could even carry me, even though I was lighter than him no boy at him his age would be able to carry me. Then again this was no ordinary boy from home.
I laughed when he put me down and swung my legs back and forth off the edge of the branch.
He sat next to me and looked at me. I saw him do this from the corner of my eye and pretended to scan the view that we had from up here.
His eyes traveled from my hair down to my wrist. that's when he noticed the deep cuts in my arm that I had done with the scissors in my draw. Noticing that he still had a hold of my hand I pretended like I hadn't seen him see them and took my hand out of his slowly.
I looked in his deep sea green eyes and saw his concern.
"What's this?" He said softly reaching for my hand again and interlining his fingers with my own.
"N-n-nothing" I stuttered
I tried pulling my hand away. I didn't want to scare him away like everybody else.
"It's nothing Peter, let go" I said stronger.
But then he said something I didn't understand
"I'm so sorry"
"W-w-what?, No Peter it's not you ---"
He cut me off "I should've rescued you sooner." he said "I'm so sorry that you had to go through what they put you through" he said with total remorse.
"No Peter it wasn't up to you! It wasn't your fault the way they treated me it wasn't your fault about anything they did to me there. All that matters is that I'm here now and I'll never go back" I said ignoring his try's to stop me.
I had given up on pulling my hand back and Looked at his face.
It was so sad tears threatening to escape his eyes. I must have looked exactly the same.
He ran his hand over my scratches with about an inch separating his skin from touching mine. once he had done that he lifted his hand and revealed new cut less skin.
I stared at it with amazement.
We both say there for a while and watch the sunset.
My head leaned against his shoulder and as I drifted to sleep I heard a voice.
"You love Dallas don't you?" It said in a sort of sad voice.
"No, someone else" I muttered back with no hesitation and drifted of to sleep with his arm draped around my shoulder and his earthy smell all around.
