Water manipulation is an interesting power to say the least. The amount of concentration you need is astronomical, so you would expect the person who has the powers of hydrokinesis to be at least even a little bit level headed and patient. Well. You'd be wrong.
"Opal, if you ever fucking touch my shit again, I swear to the gods above, I will stab you with a rusty knife!" Two kids sat near the edge of murky riverbed, one was wringing out their jacket while the other was holding onto a backpack tightly.
"Okay, okay, I get it. No touching your stuff. Still don't understand why not though," the one who was supposedly Opal, finished wringing out her jacket, tying it around her waist, "Anyway, are you gonna tell me why you brought me out this far? Like we are a long way from the school."
The child nodded, "Well, I saw a car driving down the road earlier. The road that no one goes down. And I was quite curious, so I followed it-"
"You followed a car? That went down a road no one goes down?? Dude. Are you fucking stupid?" She huffed exasperatedly.
"Hey, I only wanted to see who was inside the car. Turns out there's a new girl in town, and the road leads to the art teachers house." They shrugged when she grumbled in response.
"God, you are going to get yourself killed." She watched as he was playing with a water bubble in his hand, "Also, stop messing with the water, you have no concentration and will get us wet, for the twentieth time today."
"I have self control, unlike you-" they were suddenly cloaked in darkness. You could hear their scream from miles away as they lost focus and the water splashed over them, "Fuck!"
She chuckled, the darkness falling away, "Told you, Lucian." She disappeared into the shadows before they could retaliate.
Lucian grumbled, rolling their eyes as they started walking back to the school yard. Hoping Opal hadn't told their friends what had just happened. Knowing his luck. She already has.
The school yard was a big empty clearing with a tree house in the very middle of it. The tree was in the middle of a small island surrounded by water that had a bridge of rocks connecting the field to the island. Laughing could be heard from the tree house as Lucian made their way over to it.
"So I was like, 'Told you so.' pretty sure I got them angry as fuck." Opal chuckled at her retelling as she sat in a bean bag chair near the entrance to the tree house. Six kids sat around the house, giggling at Lucians stupidity.
"Opal, I swear to the gods above you will get stabbed with a knife!" Lucian climbed up into the small area, glaring daggers at the already hidden by shadows Opal.
"Hey, hey, guys, let's all calm down." A boy with short blonde hair stepped in between the shadow loving girl, and the water child.
"Ugh, fine. But you own me big time Rain." Lucian slumped into a chair near a window, crossing their arms.
"Thanks Rainbow, that could've ended terribly if you didn't step in." Opal smiled thoughtfully.
"Oh I know it would've. Now can we all just not annoy eachother until after we meet the new girl?? I don't wanna have to bandage up any stab wounds like last time."
Everyone burst into laughter. Hopefully they won't do that again.
