The days seem to get shorter as the nights get longer for Kori, but what did she expect. Up in the north, where the sun doesn't reach it much, night was always longer than the days. For Kori, who has the hard life of a female merchant where she does a lot of traveling, the temperature always fluctuates. From scorching hot to freezing cold temperatures. She could never seem to adapt to it. However, to her it's been more freezing than scorching. Summer is almost over and she knew, just as much as the Starks know, winter is coming. She just hopes she'll be able to survive it.
She had left the Reach some time ago and currently she was heading towards the Frozen capital of the North, Winterfell. Despite how it looked, she always liked going to Winterfell. She always like the Starks. And they always like the trinkets she brings. She always knew to bring necklaces and bracelets as well as fine dresses for Lady Catelyn and Lady Sansa Stark. She also knew to bring daggers and swords as well as armor for Arya Stark and her older brothers. As for the younger Starks, she knew to bring toys and other childlike objects which always tend to fascinate the boys. Compared to the snobby Lannisters, the Stark family were always kinder to her.
She just smiled as her carriage traveled along the Kings road, slowly making her way towards Winterfell. "I like it up more. It's a lot more free and though those northerners are a much more harder bunch, they are a lot better than those Southerners. I wish I was born in the North." She couldn't help but sigh at that. She was originally from the Iron Islands, a place where the people follow the Drowned God. A place full of raiders pirates. A place she hated that she was from.
She shook her head as she continued on her way. The only other place that didn't see her as a Savage or as a raider was those from the kingdom of Done. She chose to spend most of her time in dorne or the North. Especially Dorne. She knew she wouldn't be treated as a Savage in Dorne.
After another hour of traveling, she decided to stop and rest before continuing. She stopped her carriage near a group of trees a little off from the Kings road. That way, she knew she wouldn't get in anyone's way. She unpacked a bow and went hunting. She decided to hunt for something small. That way, it would be faster to cook and she didn't want to be in one place too long. A little time later, she came back with a rabbit.
As the rabbit cooked over the fire she set, she looked up and noticed the sun was high in the sky. Or rather, she figured it was as the sky was covered in clouds. She could tell by how bright the clouds were that it was around noon. She sighed as she watch the rabbit cooked. "I am some leagues away from Winterfell. If I keep my pace, I will be there by sundown. I'm making progress."
She smiled as she heard the sizzling sound of the meat cooking. A little while later the meat was done and she ate in silence. Slowly, she began packing what she took out, getting ready to continue on her way. Once she was done she moved to the front of the carriage. She smiled as she got back on the carriage. "A little more ways to go."
However, before she began to move again, the sky dimmed. She looked around, confused. 'why is it getting dark?' she thought as she looked at the sky. She could see a very small outline of the sun behind the clouds, but because the sky went dim, the sun looked as though it wasn't even there. As she continued to look at the sky, she noticed a strange sight. Up in the sky, she noticed that there was a slight distortion. As if the very sky itself is becoming distorted. Then she noticed a crack in the sky, similar to a crack in a mirror. The crack got wider and before she knew it, a large tunnel looking object appeared from the crack. Her eyes widen at that.
"What the heck is that?!" She then noticed something coming from the tunnel looking object. She saw what appeared to be a man and a woman appear from the tunnel in the sky and began falling from the sky. 'people are falling from the sky now?' she thought as she continued to watch. But what happened next caused her eyes to widen to the size of saucers. Appearing from the tunnel in the sky was something that she was not expecting at all.
From the tunnel in the sky, a blue Dragon appeared. And like the man and woman, it began to fall from the sky and made a crater near where the man and woman landed. She watched that's the tunnel got smaller and smaller until it made a popping sound. And as it disappeared, it let out a pulse.
A sonic boom like pulse that spread throughout the land, spreading all over the known Realm. The pulse went North, all the way to the wall. The pulse went South, from King's landing all the way to SunSpear. It went East, all the way to Essos. It even went to lands West of Westeros. And from the pulse, energy spread throughout the land. Energy that was said to have been gone from Known Realm.
Magical Energy. Pure magical energy. From the kingdom of Quath, a skinny man with no hair and sunken face shivered from the energy, causing him to grin maliciously. In Volantis, inside a certain tower, a fire burned brighter than ever before, causing the red priestesses to let out bunches of gasps. In Braavos, inside the House of Black and White, Jaqen H'ghar felt the energy course through him. Every single one of them had a single thought course through their heads.
'Magic has returned.'
At the same time, Kori left her carriage a rush to the crater that was created by the three arrivals. As she got to the crater, she slowly went in the crater. As she got close enough, she looked at the two people. The first one was male. He looked to be wearing weird looking armor. Armor she has never seen before. He had dark brown hair and slightly well tanned skin. She couldn't see his eyes, as they were closed. But what she did see cause her eyes to widen again.
His ears were pointed. Pointed in the shape of a knife. From what she could see from his face, he looked slightly gorgeous. She also noticed he looked to be in his late teen years, 17 or 18. She turned away from him and looked at the woman and her eyes got even wider. The woman had slightly pale and yet regal looking skin. Her hair was abyss black and it flowed down her back. Like him, she had pointed ears. Also like him, she wore weird looking clothing. But what really stunned her was the woman's face. She was stunned at how regal and defined her face was. From what she could tell from what she saw, the woman was the epitome of beauty.
However, what really stunned her was the Dragon. The dragon was fairly large and had smooth scales all over its body. And on its back where long and sharp spikes. It also had four legs all with sharp claws. On its head it had spikes and sharp scales all over it. It wings were very large and look like bat wings. On its tail was very sharp spikes. Overall, she thought it was a beautiful dragon.
Then, realization hits her like a punch to the stomach. 'Dragons have returned to Westeros.' she thought as she looked at the weird group. She then heard a gasp. She looked and notice that the gasp came from the man. Then, the man opened his eyes.
And that's it for the prologue folks. I hope this grabbed your attention. I hope you like the beginning, because it'll only get better from here. Again this is a fan fiction and all Rights go to the original authors. That's it for now folks. The next chapter will be up soon. Adios for now.:)
