"Really?" A tear slipped from your eye as the doctor confirmed your question with a small nod. You quickly wiped it away, not wanting your mother to see you crying. "Then I know what I have to do!" You grinned and pushed yourself off of the hospital bed, your sneakers making contact with the tile. "It's my fault that this even happened in the first place so I will accept this as my fate!" You smiled and threw on your jacket, giving the doctor a small bow. "Thanks for everything doc!""I'm so sorry (y/n)..."
He smiled at you as you happily walked out and into the corridor. Your mom continued to ask questions but you continued on your way, now outside and strolling on the sidewalk. It was the middle of the day and the sunlight fell right on your face.
You sat on the bench and smiled up at it, closing your eyes and letting yourself enjoy the heat the sun radiated.
All the way in space, millions upon millions of miles away and yet somehow...I can feel it's gentle rays casting themselves upon my face. It's like hope, what you're hoping for may be so far away yet it could feel like it was just out of your grasp. I'm going to be happy...that's my goal for this year.
You hadn't noticed the pair of eyes on you until your eyes fluttered open, now facing a boy with combed down blonde hair. You giggled and waved over at him. "Are you a hero?" you asked, scanning the boy's odd attire. He wore a skin-tight black top with an orange 'X' on it but with jeans.
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU THINK?! YOU'RE LOOKING AT THE FUTURE NUMBER ONE HERO, DIPSHIT!" He spat at you, glaring. You couldn't help but laugh. "Number one hero, eh?"
"WHAT THE FUCK IS SO FUNNY ABOUT THAT?!" He growled, you still in a giggling fit. "Oh, nothing at all! Does this future number one hero have a name?" you asked, tilting your head at the angry blonde. "It's Ground Zero, idiot!" He yelled, not as loud as before though. You nodded. "That's not a bad hero name. Ground Zero...I like it," you complimented, glancing behind him as your mom walked out of the building and over to you. "Well, it was nice meeting you Ground Zero! I have to get going now."
You gave the boy a small wave and got into the car with your mom. He only watched before clicking his tongue and continuing to stomp off.
"Who was that?" your mom asked. You simply shrugged.
You knew exactly what speech you were about to get.
"(y/n)...I love you, honey. And I-I am so sorry-"
"Mom," you interrupted. "I promised myself I'm going to be happy. Things have changed from back then, just look at how we're living. Now just smile knowing that I am trying my best!" You smiled widely, confident in every word you spoke. She nodded and patted your shoulder, starting the car.
The drive was silent, your mother only focusing on the road and you were also quiet, unsure of what to say. You were staying in Hosu since you had been going to that same doctor since a few months ago and the thing you and your mother least wanted was just announced.
"I'll tell your dad," your mom mumbled, breaking the silence. You only nodded. "Don't tell your siblings just yet."
You nodded once more.
She pulled into the driveway and cut the engine, opening her door and hopping out. You did the same, making your way inside the house. "We're home!" you announced, sliding your shoes off.
No response.
It was usual, no one usually responds to you when you get home unless you brought food. You walked into your room's bathroom and placed the new prescription on your sink. "Why does that one look different?" Your head shot over to your sister who was leaning on the door frame.
You let out a sigh and held back the tears that were trying to well up in your eyes. "These are supposed to be stronger and help me through it!"
She nodded, crossing her arms and walking out of the room. You sat down on the couch for a while, watching some television.
You hadn't even realized how much time you had spent sitting and do nothing.
I need to get some air...
"Mom! I'm going for a quick walk!" you yelled down the hall and opened the front door, walking out and onto the sidewalk. It was stressful for you to keep such a huge secret but if you were to be happy, you don't want them to know. It's for the best.
"Oi!" You heard a voice call from behind you. You looked back to see none other than the blonde from earlier. "Oh hi, there, future No.1 hero," you laughed. "WHY THE HELL DO YOU LAUGH SO DAMN MUCH?!" He growled. "Why not...life is too short to not laugh so much."
He furrowed his brows down at you. "What are you doing out so late?" You gestured to the sidewalks that we're all pretty much empty. "The hell do you care?" He grumbled.
"Geez...your no fun to talk to," you mumbled, staring up at the star-filled sky. He glanced over at you before also viewing the sky.
"It helps clear my head," he finally answered. "Yea...that makes sense."
You parted your lips to say something but a huge crash caught your attention. "What the heck was that?!" You quickly ran up to the next turn in the street to see a hideous purple monster. Its teeth were needle-sharp and its brain seemed to stick out of its head.
"O-Oh my gosh-"
The boy quickly pushed you behind him, getting into the fighting stance. "Just stay behind me, dumbass!" he commanded as he released explosions from his palms, targeting the monster.
"I-I'll get some help!" you yelled over to him before making a run for it down the street, looking for any signs of a hero. There were only screams as a fire began to cover the city. "HELP!!" A bloody scream cried. You looked over to see a woman and her child in front of another one of those monsters.
It took you no time to stand between them gathering the mother and her child and carrying them to safety before returning to the monster.
You weren't allowed to go to UA with your condition. They said if you got too injured, it would be the end of the line for you but here you are, with a chance to fight this thing.
What do I do?
{(a/n): so this was originally in the first person so I apologize for any 'I' or 'my's where 'you' or 'your' is supposed to be! I did try and swap all of them but I may have missed some sorryyy}
