You slid on your normal grey shirt and walked out of your room."(y/n)! Your dad will be driving you to work today!" Mom yelled from the kitchen. "That's fine but I have to leave now."
You looked down at the time. "You work once in a blue moon, I don't think they would mind if you're a little late," mom shrugged walking over and ruffling your hair. "No. That means I should be there on time," you huffed, slamming the door as you ran outside to the car.
"There you are."
Dad turned down the music as you got in the car. "Yea. Mom was saying it would be okay if I was late and..." you sighed, shaking your head. "Well...you do work in a pretty shitty place, excuse my language."
"It isn't a crappy place. It's a nice restaurant that is located in a crappy place," you corrected him.
"Same difference. You need to be careful." He pulled out of the driveway. "Well, I know that," you chuckled. "But I have a pretty decent waitressing job that pays well, I like it. People who work there are pretty nice too."
He shrugged. "Being a cop is great too," he smiled, proud of his job. "I'm glad. But why didn't you want to be a hero?" you asked.
"Well...I have a fairly strong quirk, not as strong as yours, but I never trained. My wind quirk could have maybe..possibly gotten me into UA but I wanted a family." He patted your head. "When I met your mother in high school, I was glad that I didn't attend UA."
You smiled softly at the carpeted floor of the car. "I'm glad you got to live out your dream."
He glanced over at you and grew a solemn look before it quickly retreated. "No depressing crap in my car. Understood?! I will get a sticker on my car saying just that! 'No depressing shit!'" he yelled. "Mom would kill you for such vulgar language," you laughed at his joke. "She says them from time to time as well. Not fair." He turned into the restaurant parking lot.
"Have a good day at work!"
"I will."
You hopped out of the car and walked inside the store. You were glad your parents never asked too much about your job or came to visit you...you definitely didn't have a job they would be proud of.
You walked inside and greeted your co-workers with a small wave before making your way into the back room. "T(l/n)!" Sara cheered, changing into her work outfit. "Hi, Sara," you smiled and walked over to your locker that was right next to hers. "We are really short-staffed today, unfortunately. I am glad that I can finally see you, it's been a while since you have been here," she said, tying her bow. You nodded and grabbed my work uniform, beginning to change.
"Yeah," you said, quickly finishing up and patting her on her head. "I'm going to get to work now! Your bow is a little lopsided," you giggled, pointing at her poorly tied ribbon. "Damn this thing,"
"Watch your language, good workers make sure to be very proper," you teased.
"Fuckity, fuck fuck fuck!" She snickered, sticking her tongue out at you. You shook your head and walked into the cafe, making your way over to a table.
-
"No way! Really?" You were shocked as you put your jacket back on, placing the work outfit into the locker. "Yea and then he said that he wanted the engagement ring back." She shook her head and threw her bag into the locker. "Did you give it back?"
"Fuck no! He could suck my dick for all I care," she giggled, shutting the lights off. "You go, girl!" you cheered, opening the back door to the store. "Yea. So now I'm a single pringle." She did finger guns at you before walking down the alley toward the main street. "Same. My life is so boring compared to yours, Sara," you sighed, closing the door. "You still have a few years till you're my age." She chuckled before waving and heading in the opposite direction. "I'm going to try and give you a more stable schedule after you are sixteen so I can stop paying you under the table!" she shouted over to you as she waved like a madwoman.
You laughed and said thank you.
You sat down on the sidewalk, waiting for your dad to pick you up.
It was a quiet night aside from the bar down the street. No crickets or cars could be heard, it was pretty nice.
Something had been placed on your shoulder and you quickly shot up, landing a punch on someone's stomach.
"Why the fuck did you do that?!" You immediately recognized the male's voice.
"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! I-I thought you were some drunk man!" you stuttered. Your punch didn't seem to have affected him though. It was dark but he stood perfectly fine. "I thought you were interning in Hosu, Bakugou?" you questioned, remembering that night he had been walking the street. "Yeah. I was just walking down here, dumbass."
You took a breath and sat back down. "What the hell are you doing?"
"I just finished at work so I am waiting for my dad to come to pick me up," you mumbled, leaning on your hand that was on your chin. "You work here?" he asked, pointing at the restaurant behind you both. "Before I answer...do you know what this place is?" you questioned, squinting at him. He shook his head.
"Ok then, yes I do. Only when they are short on staff. It's not like a real job but I like it," you shrugged.
"This is a really shitty place," he said, looking around. "The area may be but not the cafe. It's fairly decent. We get alcoholics here every once in a while but it is what it is."
A familiar set of headlights turned down the street. "Welp...cya later!" You hopped up and gave him a wave. "Cya, dumbass."
You shook your head and walked over to the car, getting into the passenger seat. "Were you talking to someone?" your dad asked, looking over at where you had been sitting. "N-No. Just chillin'."
"Ok then. No strange guy following you?"
"No..."
"Mmmk...then. Are you sure?" he asked once more, not convinced.
"Yes, dad. If I had been talking to a stranger, I'm sure you would know."
But he doesn't...hehe...
"I'll believe you for now I guess. It is late and I am getting old so it gets hard to see at night," he sighed, driving down the road.
He definitely isn't a stranger anymore. You have learned so much about him in such a short time and you really like to hang out with him. It took you a moment to realize that he is probably the first friend you have ever had. You were homeschooled most of your life and spent your spare time practicing or hanging out with Eiji.
"You good over there?" dad asked, looking over at you. "Y-Yea. Just thinking."
"Well..your mom and I have a surprise for you and your siblings." He smiled over at you. "Really?! What is it?!"
"It's a surprise..." he said.
"I wanna know.." you pouted, crossing your arms as you glared at him.
"No."
"Yes."
"No."
"YES."
"No."
"Fine."
