"Woohoo. Gala night. A night where I get to spend all my time drinking and talking to people I don't wanna spend time with." Rossi rolled his eyes while the group of women talked about the yearly FBI gala amongst themselves.
"Oh, come on Rossi. You're not even a little bit excited?"
"As a matter of fact, no, I'm not." The group of agents chuckled before turning towards Spencer, who was, as usual, reading.
"Hey, Spence, you're coming to the gala tonight right?" JJ caught his attention, forcing him to look up and engage in the conversation.
"Uh, no I think I'd just rather stay home."
"Seriously? Come on, all of us are going."
"I would but things like that aren't really my thing."
"I don't like the negative vibes you're throwing my way, Boy Wonder. You're going to the gala." Garcia stared at him with a stern gaze.
"Fine. I'll come." Penelope let out a triumphant smile, waving Morgan over. "Make sure he actually comes. Or I'll blame you." She walked away with a pep in her step, holding her head high in mock triumph. Morgan pat Spencer on the back.
"Come on, pretty boy. It won't be that bad. Maybe you'll finally meet a nice lady there." Morgan laughed and left a scowl on Spencer's face.
"Ooo, I'm bringing my sister as a plus one tonight! Yah know, she's not much younger than you are Reid. And she's single." He rolled his eyes while her and JJ laughed. JJ stood up and walked over behind him.
"Come on, Spence. You have to get out of your bubble sometime."
"I know. I just wish you guys would stop trying to set me up on dates. Especially with your sister, Emily."
It was true, it wasn't the first time. The first time she tried to set him up with her was at the gala two years ago, but he ended up not going. Ever since it's been an ongoing battle for the nagging to stop.
"Fine. But only if you come tonight."
"Fine."

Spencer stood in front of the mirror, frantically trying to adjust his tie as if it couldn't get anymore straight. He contemplated just calling the whole thing off, but really didn't wanna deal with Garcia screaming at him for the next two days. He looked at his watch.
6:47 pm.
It was now or never. He held his hand on the doorknob, prepared to turn right around and forget all about the gala. But instead he turned the knob and walked outside, finding the courage to drive straight to the conference hall where the gala was being held. He entered the hall and found his group of friends, wearing an awkward smile.
"Well well, Pretty Boy decided to show up." Morgan pat his back and he just stood there silent. They started having a conversation when something-or someone-caught Spencer's eye.

A woman walked through the door, looking to be around his age.

You were wearing a long evening dress, going from a dark pink to white at the bottom. The neckline scooped down to mid torso and the dress was sleeveless, but a diamond necklace shined from the skin on the bare part of your chest. Your (h/l) (h/c) hair was down and curled, pushed behind your ear on one side to show a matching pair of dangling diamond earrings. You wore a smile on your face with a subtle makeup look, holding a clutch purse in your hands. He didn't realize he was staring until you walked right up to his group.
"Yah know, Em, you could have given me a ride."
"I waited outside for 15 minutes and you didn't come out."
"You know me I take forever to get ready it shouldn't have surprised you. I had to take a taxi instead and you know how much I hate those." You hugged her while the remaining people looked at you in surprise.
"Wait, Emily, this is your sister?" Morgan looked almost shocked. You looked nothing alike.
"Is that so surprising?" You put your hands on your hips and looked at the dark skinned man who put his hands up in mock defense. Emily just laughed before introducing everyone.
"Y/N, this is Derek Morgan, Penelope Garcia, JJ and her husband Will, Luke Alvez, David Rossi, Tara Lewis, Matt Simmons and his wife, and Dr. Spencer Reid. Guys, this is my sister Y/N." The last male you were introduced to intrigued you as soon as you looked his way. He had longer, curled brown hair with stubble on his chin. He was dressed in a crisp black suit, and your eyes locked with his almost immediately.
"Dr? I'm actually working on getting my doctorate right now. Genetics."
"No offense, but I don't exactly see you as the scientist type." He shook your hand, holding onto it a little longer than he meant to.
"None taken. I get that a lot actually. More than you'd think." There was silence in the conversation between the group, you two not noticing as everyone else shared glances and smirks.
"Well, I'll go get everyone drinks." Rossi pointed behind him. Tara and Luke agreed to go with him, JJ and Will went to go find a table, and Matt and his wife went with them. Garcia and Morgan left to meet up with Rossi, Tara, and Luke and Emily stayed only for a second to whisper something in your ear.
"Don't mess this up." You sent her a glare as she walked away, pretending to go use the bathroom, leaving you two alone. There was a semi-awkward silence for a second before Spencer spoke up.
