Description: (godly AU) Instead if everyone moving to Christianity, some people still worshipped traditional gods. But when the goddess of wisdom and the night takes a liking to a particular boy genius, things get complicated real fast.
Warnings: fluff, some angst.
Your character in this is like a mix between Athena and Artemis because I had a specific idea of this character in mind.

Most gods didn't pay attention to mortals. They'd just write off every action they made as immature and go about their day, whether that be waging war or controlling the tides. But you found them increasingly intriguing.
You found yourself as a protector of sorts, watching over those who seemed to learn things or refresh what they already knew. But there was a specific mortal you took quite an affinity to.
Every night he would sit on his balcony and read at a million miles a minute, occasionally staring up at the stars for minutes at a time. You'd spin a new picture made of stardust for him to see every night, waiting for him to look up and connect all the dots in the sky. The man knew almost everything there was to know; he was one of your favorite geniuses you'd watched over. Sure, there were other but his quiet yet protective nature drew you to him.
You'd thought about visiting him several times, but your father wouldn't allow it. Rich, coming from a man who had about a million halfblood kids neither you nor your mother knew about. Your brothers mocked you for your interest. Plus, there were other circumstances. You couldn't leave your post until sunset or sunrise, the two hour increments between when you and your brother switched places. You had a job to keep the stars in the sky at night.
But one day you got up the courage enough to try it.
You patiently watched and waited until it was time for your shift change, making sure nobody was watching. You carefully willed yourself down into the man's apartment, looking around to see if it had worked. You smiled, seeing that it had worked the first time. When Spencer opened the door to his apartment, the last thing he expected to see was a woman bathed in shimmering silver light running her hand over the books on his book shelf.
No. No way.
"H-Hello?" Your head snapped to him as you smiled, holding your hands behind your back.
"Oh good, you can see me. I was afraid you wouldn't be able to." You let out a laugh but he just stayed confused.
"A-Are you-?"
"I'm sure I'm not someone you'd expect to see when you come home from work. Not many people get the pleasure of meeting a goddess in person."
"W-Why are you here?" You mesmerized him. Your hair shimmered with little specks of stardust woven in each strand, and a pair of round silver glasses sat on your nose. You wore a black shirt and skirt that shimmered like your hair, and a white flowing sweater flared out around you. You glowed like the moon, which usually was visible in the sky at this time, but wasn't now. He figured you had something to do with that.
"I'd been watching you for I don't know how long and figured I'd finally try to say hello. Granted, I'm not exactly supposed to be here, but nobody needs to know that." Your laugh resonated in his ears, making him smile.
"You've been watching me?"
Why has a goddess been watching me?
"You're one of my favorites. Maybe because you use your gifts to help people. Most others I've seen with that big brain of yours don't. Yah know, they start companies, make money for themselves but you save lives. Maybe that's why I like you so much." You continued to run your hands over his books, picking one out. "Frankenstein, one of my personal favorites. Maybe because it was written by a woman, or I'm just a sucker for horror stories."
"I'm assuming you're a fan of Poe then?" He sat down on his couch while you sat in his chair.
"Big fan. As a goddess of wisdom and knowledge you watch so many stories unfold but it's always heartwarming to see those writing down their pain as therapy."
You two talked about books until you noticed the sky getting darker and darker outside. A frown passed over your face."I'm afraid I have to go. I'll get in big trouble if I'm not back in time for moonrise." You stood up from the chair, fixing the glasses on your nose. He stood up with you, watching you.
"Will I...see you again?" You smiled at him.
"Well, I can only come everyday for a few hours at sunset and sunrise, but I'll always be listening every night. Just look up at the moon and...say something. I won't be able to respond but if you miss me, just look at the stars." And then you walked into the waning sunlight and disappeared.
