A few weeks had passed and life seemed to drag on.
The bell rang, signalling the lunch hour. I grabbed my bag and my folders, left the horrible, noisy classroom and trudged to my stupid locker. I opened it up and shoved my Math books inside, making sure to slam it after that. I made my way alone to the lunch hall.
There was a beep from my phone. Curiosity filled me and I reached into my pocket. While scrunching my face up, I pulled my phone out. It was a text message from Ace. What was he doing texting me? I squinted up my eyes to read what it said.
Yo Vick. taking the day off sch today. got some stuff to do. see u later on tonite in ur bedroom? kinda wanna watch some movies w u.
A.I frowned. What 'stuff' would Ace need to do? Before I could start wondering and thinking about the billion possibilities that Ace could be needing to do, I quickly texted back a reply.
K. See u at my window then.
VictoriaI made a disappointed face and shoved my phone back into my pocket. It was weird saying 'see you at my window' to Ace. And so Ace wasn't in school that day. Never mind, I just needed to focus on what to tell Holly. Should I really tell the truth to her? She was my best friend, I should probably tell her the honest truth.
I entered the canteen and the familiar chattering of nosy students - happy for their lunch - filled my ears.
"Victoria!" I craned my neck towards the voice. It was Holly. She was smiling and waving her hand about to make me notice her. Well, I had already noticed her waving her arm about like a maniac. I sighed and walked over with my lunch in my bag, to her table feeling guilty that I told her I wasn't hanging out with ace anymore-- but I totally was.
"Hey," I said, smiling slightly.
Holly nodded at me and ushered me to sit. "Do you want to talk about Ace? Do know why he isn't in today?" I laughed. I knew Holly would want to talk about Ace. I don't know why she would be asking me about him, or if I knew anything when I was supposedly supposed to be stay away from him.
I gritted my teeth together. "Alrighty, I have no idea."
She sighed. "Sometimes I wish one of us were close to him so I would know. But I heard he's good at playing basketball from Liliana from my Chemistry class."
I shrugged. "Don't know. Don't care," I mumbled.
Holly laughed. "Nah, I know you care."
I pursed my lips. "Bobby was home last night and he knows how to speak properly," I explained to Holly, hoping to change the subject.
It didn't work.
"Have you ever had a sleep over with Ace? I mean you guys just live right next door to each other?" Holly wondered out loud.
I frowned in disbelief. "No, I don't talk to him anymore."
Holly slumped her shoulders and gave me a look. "We both know that's not true, Vick. Drop the act. I don't even care anymore."
I tried to act innocent. "I'm serious."
Holly snorted. "Please, Vick."
"Fine," I muttered. I couldn't believe she knew it all along. I felt a swarm of guilt settle in my gut.
"So, do you?" she asked.
"What?"
"Sleepovers!"
"No!"
"Well, would he be up for one?" she asked, raising a brow.
I gave her a look, feeling uneasy. "I don't know."
"Ask him to. I want to sleep over too. Please? It'll be interesting. You don't have to watch while him and I make love and have billions of babies," she said, smiling.
I blinked. "Okay."

Holly and I sat on my bed, at eight o' clock. Ace wasn't back yet so we were watching the latest episode of season one of Finding Carter. Seriously, and spoiler alert, did Lori really have to take Carter away? Again?
"Hey Vick-" Ace's voice sounded from the window. Holly and I snapped our heads toward the window. Ace was sitting on it with his mouthed shaped into the letter O, like Holly's earlier on in the canteen, when I was explaining everything to her, truthfully and honestly. "Oh shit, is this a bad time? I texted you saying I was going to come to your bedroom, did I not?"
I stammered something out. "No, it's fine. Holly's just sleeping over for tonight, if that's okay?"
Ace nodded and jumped into my bedroom. I think Holly bedside me nearly fainted. Ace had his hair messed up a dm hit shirt's button was undone. He was wearing black jeans and white Adidas shoes.
Holly looked at me. "He's coming in here?" she hissed at me. "Really?" Her eyes sparkled a little at me.
"Yeah," Ace mumbled. "You got a problem? Actually I think I might sleep in here too." Before I could start to protest, Ace shuffled into his bedroom and returned with his blanket and pillow.
"I didn't even ask him about a sleeo over," I hissed in Holly's ear. Ace got comfortable on the bed. Umm, you have to take the floor sorry Ace," I murmured.
"So Holly's sharing your bed?" Ace asked me, staring at my big double bed.
I nodded. "Well, she is my best friend.."
"Damn, I wish I could swap places with her." I think Holly fainted there. I raised an eyebrow at him while he just plastered a big fat smirk on his lips.
Then Ace and Holly were looking at each other strangely for a moment. He was eyeing her and she had a look in her eyes that looked like she really wanted him.
What?
"Um, I need to visit the loo," Holly announced, breaking her staring game with Ace. I nodded and pointed at the bathroom. God, why did I do that? Of course Holly knew where the bathroom was, she was my best friend since eternity started.
Holly frowned at me weirdly and walked towards the bathroom, locking it once she got inside.
Ace was flopping onto my bed, placing his hands behind his head, with a big sigh, staring up at me as if I were a jewel.
"So what was so important that came up which caused you to skip school?" I asked Ace. He bit his lip, debating on whether he should or shouldn't tell me. I've never really seen Ace Will hesitate to do much. He just simply did it, without thinking, even if it caused a bad thing, or good.
He looked scared.
