I woke up with cold sweats and thought to myself that was a weird dream. The only thing I could remember was a woman screaming and a bright green light. Oh, I forget to introduce myself, my name is Rose. Don't ask me for my last name because I have no idea what it is. For all I could remember from my childhood is the orphanage where I currently live. "Rose get down here!", someone yelled. Oh, that is Ms. Collins; she is our caregiver/owner of the orphanage. She is not the nicest person in the world, but I am thankful that I have a roof over my head. It is just sometimes I wish I could escape this reality. That is why I enjoy reading because when I read it feel like I am in that world. My thoughts were broken by Ms. Collins yelling, "ROSE!!!!" Oh no, I flinched and ran downstairs because you do not want to make Ms. Collins mad. She gives punishments and they are not lovely if you know what I mean. I got to the kitchen because that is where Mr. Collins usually is in the mornings. "Yes Ma'am", I said looking down at the ground. One rule you need to know living at the orphanage is that don't look Ms. Collins in the eyes. She angrily asked, "Why is there no breakfast on the tables?! You are supposed to start making breakfast at 6 o'clock and it is 6:05!" I did not speak and continued to look at the ground. After a couple of seconds go by, she starts to get even more angry. I sometimes wondered how angry she can get. Some people think she is just a nice sweet old lady. "You better answer and look at me, freak!!", she yelled. I flinched and started to cry, but I could not cry because I do not what to get punished. Then I looked at Ms. Collins and quickly said, "Sorry, Ms. Collins. I will start making breakfast right now." I quickly ran to the counter and efficiently making breakfast. Ms. Collins exclaimed, "Good! Now, if you have one more mistake today; you will get punished. Got it!!!" I quickly nodded my head and continued to make breakfast. Now you see my life is not the best here at the orphanage. Ms. Collins and the other kids hate me. I am not a normal girl because I have done some weird things. One time, I got mad at one boy because he was making fun of a girl, and somehow the boy got pushed into the wall hard. Ms. Collins saw what happened and punished me. That night was one of my worst punishments of my life. This story also explains how I got my nickname freak. I don't have any friends because of "freakiness". That is why I am always silent and have my head a book. I also started to wrote songs because it helps me cope with what is going on with my life. After I finished cooking breakfast, I put it on plates and set the table. Another rule for me is that I don't get food because freaks like me don't deserve food. I silently walked to Ms. Collins office to tell her that breakfast is ready, and I need to know my chores. Arriving at her office, I stood at the door with my head down and patiently waited for my list of chores. Ms. Collins saw I was at the door and asked, "I am guessing you have finished making breakfast?" I didn't even get a chance to answer before she has given me a piece of paper and said, "Here are your chorus and have them finished by the afternoon." I went to my room to get out of my pajamas and put on some clothes. The only clothes I own are hand me downs because Ms. Collins said freaks like me do not need good clothes and I should be grateful for what I have now. After I finished getting dressed, I started to work on my chorus. Oh, I forgot to tell you, my age. Well, I do not know my real age and my birthday. Ms. Collins says that she found me, in the morning, placed on the doorsteps on November 1, 1981. She also said that I looked about one so that how my age became to be. So, in hindsight I have no idea who my parents are and if they are still alive. I also questioned why I was abandoned at an orphanage? I forgot to tell you the name of the orphanage; its name is Wool's Orphanage in London.
