⚠️ Trigger Warning: mentions of past self harm, depression, homophobia, and past child abuse ⚠️"I-i'm a mistake Harry, a mistake, just a-" Draco broke off into another wave of sobs, making Harry pull him even closer.
"Baby no. You are so amazing Draco, you're the last thing from a mistake." Harry whispered into the broken boys ear, as sobs racked through the blondes body.
"She r-regrets having me, she doesn't love me, she nev-n-never loved me-" Draco said in between his sobs, voice muffled by Harry's shoulder.
Harry's voice worked magic as he whispered soothing words to the blue eyed boy. Slowly, the sobs reduced to sniffling with the occasional hiccup, leaving a less tightened feeling around Harry's heart.
Harry gently lifted Draco's head to face his own with one hand, staring into the electric blue eyes that were now full of tears, making Harry ache.
"What happened baby? I need you to tell me what happened, okay?" Harry said gently, rubbing small circles on Draco's hips with his other hand.
Draco sniffled and looked down, playing with a lose thread on Harry's jumper.
"My m-mum sent me a letter," Draco started, not meeting Harry's eyes "she saw a picture of us in the prophet. I guess someone caught us at that fair or something? I-I'm not sure but-" Draco broke off with a sniffle, his eyes brimming with tears.
Harry made soft "shhing" sounds as he rubbed gently on Draco's back. He had no idea how someone knew they were at the fair, but they should have been more careful. He was about to apologize for such, when Draco started speaking again.
"Sh-she said that i've been disowned. I'm not w-welcome at Malfoy manor anymore and she's erasing me from all family trees. She said she w-wants to act like I never existed." Draco said brokenly, still not meeting Harry's eyes. Harry just shook his head in response, knowing that there had to be another option.
"It's going to be ok babe. Doesn't your dad have a say? We should owl him and see if-" Harry stopped himself when Draco shook his head and mumbled something incoherent.
"I can't hear you love," Harry said lightly, using his pointer finger to lift Draco's head to meet his eyes.
Draco sniffled again, looking into Harry's eyes with a deep sadness that made Harry want to hold him close and never let go.
"He's w-wanted this to happen Harry," Draco said, voice cracking as he spilled a truth that he's tried to keep buried for so long.
Harry was confused to say the least. Wasn't Draco like, the daddy's boy? What happened to the infamous "My father will hear about this"? The little boy that looked up to his father as though he was the world?
"What are you talking about hun?" Harry asked quietly.
As Draco stared into the unreal green of Harry's eyes, he was so so tempted to just say it. Let go of all the fears that have chained up his heart for so long.
He wanted to tell Harry about the horrors of his childhood. The suffocating pressure of always having to be perfect. The brutal consequences when he wasn't. The punishments he's faced under the dark lord. How he was left alone in the dungeons for days and days, how he was starving and aching and please god no, please not anymore, please-
Draco was pulled out of his flashback by a shake of the shoulders. "Dray?" Harry asked concerned, completely oblivious to the horrors running through the blondes mind.
Draco sucked in a deep breath. Pansy has told him time and time again to open up to Harry about it. "It'll help" she promised gently, as he was left shaking from yet another nightmare. Draco had just been so scared that Harry would look at him differently. Or worse, leave him. But now that he was no longer considered a Malfoy, had no family left, and the whole wizarding world knew about the two of them, what was another risk?
