AN: I didn't like how the original chapter played out, so I decided to split it in two seperate chapters. Might tweek the second part a bit too later on. Sorry >_<

You crossed your arms, burying your head in them.

“Are you still thinking about that?” Charlotte asked, taking a spoonful of her soup. You nodded, not looking up. A few days had passed since Levi and you held a staring contest, and you haven’t seen him since then. Charlotte, and most people, did not understand why you were still so flustered about it. You didn’t know why you were still so flustered about it. Sighing, you stretched your arms out across the table.

“H-Hey watch it!” Charlotte squealed, quickly picking up her bowl of soup. You just groaned in response.

“Cadet (l/n).”

“Yes!” You said, quickly sitting up straight; but, in doing so, hitting whoever was standing behind you’s chin. “Oh god, I am so s-” You started to say, turning around to see whom you had hit.

It was Levi. And he looked pissed. REALLY pissed.

“You are so what? Sorry?” He asked, glaring down at you.

“That-“

“Never mind.” Levi interrupted you, silencing you with a wave of his hand, “ Cadet (l/n), y-”

“Yes?”

“Let me finish talking first, Ca-“

“Sorry.”

Levi glare at you intensified, making you want to just disappear as you slid down your chair. “As I was saying, “ Levi said, clearing his throat, “Cadet (l/n), you are on cleaning duty today. Upon being dismissed from the mess hall, you will report to me.”

“Yes sir!” You said, attempting to salute sitting down.

Levi tsked, “Pathetic,” he muttered as he walked away. Once he was gone, you sighed, returning to your little sphere of embarrassment. Not such a good start with ‘humanity’s strongest.’

Charlotte waved you good-bye, leaving you alone. Completely alone. Left to grumble about your misfortune, you walked over to where another two cadets –also assigned to cleaning duties – stood awaiting for instructions. You looked at them, furrowing your brow as you tried to remember their names. You couldn’t remember the name of the cadet furthest away from you; but she was a considerable amount taller than you, with long black hair and light blue eyes. The boy standing next to her, however, you remembered his name loud and clear: Anthony. He was taller than both you and the girl and was a complete ass. At least you thought so. He had this short, spiked up hair – that must take forever to style in the mornings – and sky blue eyes. No one could deny that he was not good looking. He really was. He would easily classify as eye-candy if he never opened his mouth, or if you were deaf, either works. The issue was that he knew that he was hot; so, in his mind, this meant that he could act like a complete jackass and get away with it. He did get away with a lot of crappy behaviour, unfortunately.

Anthony, upon seeing you coming up to stand beside him, gave you a wink, a snap-and-point with his fingers, and a flirtatious click of the tongue. “Hey (f/n)~” he said, “Do you believe in love at first sight, or should I walk by again?”

You groaned, rolling your eyes.

“Cadet Anthony Springfield, this is cleaning duty not flirting class.” Captain Levi said as he approached the group, “Though you may want to consider attending a few ‘Flirting 101’ classes if that’s how you approach every lady you see.”

Levi did not even give Anthony come up with a response as he tossed each of you a set of cleaning supplies. “You’ve got an hour to leave this place spotless. Cadet White,” He said, looking over at the girl with the black hair, “You will be in charged of dishes. Cadets Springfield and (l/n), you will be in charged of the rest of the mess hall. When I come back, I better not find a speck of dust anywhere.”

There had been quite an emphasis on the ‘anywhere.’ Glancing back, you saw the size of the mess hall and groaned. This was going to take forever.

“Was that a complaint I heard, Cadet (l/n)?” Levi asked, making you snap back and paying attention. He was glaring at you. Crap. Were you on his bad side already?

“Well, sir, the room is quite large. Even if it is two of us working on cleaning, I don’t think we’ll be able to clean every speck of dust in just one hour.” You responded, not thinking twice about what you had just said.

Levi’s brows knitted together, looking at you in the eye. He tsked, “You are a soldier. Follow your orders,” he said. You raised your finger, leaving your mouth open as you tried to come up with a response. But before you could come up with anything, Levi had turned around and walked off; leaving you standing there looking like a fool with your mouth open.

You sighed, leaning on the end of your mop. Although it had barely been an hour, you were exhausted. Anthony had long since slacked off, and was sitting in the corner catching some Z’s. The girl with the black hair, who’s name you discovered to be Noel White, had finished with the dishes and came out to help you. However, she wasn’t much of a talker…

Suddenly, you felt someone tap on your shoulder. Looking up, you glanced over to Noel. “Squad Leader Levi is here.” She said softly, pointing at the door with a nod. You nodded, standing up straight as you watched the short man inspect the room. He would inspect every corner, touch every surface, and look under every table. Then, he stood in front of Anthony, who was still asleep. Giving the sole’s of his feet a light kick, Levi growled down on the taller man. “Oi, shit-head,” he said, “wake up.”

Anthony groaned, turning to a side, “Oh come on mom…. 5 more minutes….” he mumbled.

Levi did not seem too pleased with this. He crouched down to be at Anthony’s level; and, with his middle finger and thumb, flicked Anthony’s forehead.

“Ow! What the fuck dude!” Anthony cried out, covering the red mark on his forehead, “What the hell did you do that for… oh.”

Anthony had opened his eyes to meet Levi’s rage. Levi stood up, “Cadet Springfield.”

Anthony scrambled up on his feet, saluting. “Sir!”

“You will report to my office after training today. Do not be late.”

You cleared your throat trying your best not to laugh, Noel, who was beside you, was trying her best to muffle her laugh. A flustered Anthony was not a common sight. But, as Levi turned and approached you, you both straightened up and saluted.

“There is still a fair bit left to be cleaned, Cadets.” He said, looking at you with his emotion-less, static, face.

“Sorry sir,” you responded, “but it is impossible for the two of us to complete all the cleaning in an hour.”

Wait. Was speaking up against Captain Levi really a good idea? You waited, looking at his face in hope of an indication of his thoughts to appear. But there was no such luck.

“You are dismissed. Go off to training.” he said, leaving.
