Season 1, Episode 1: Emeralds of Darkness - When a young boy appears in a different world, he must find three legendary heroes to save all worlds from the pits of darkness. His first destination: Angel Island.

January 1, 2017

Their story had finally been written.
An anthropomorphic feline with brown fur, red hair, multi-colored eyes, and Egyptian-like clothing say behind a desk in a log cabin, which she lived in with her two sisters. She was busy writing something, but she would not tell anyone what it was.
As knock was suddenly heard on the door. The feline set her quill down and answered the door; she was surprised to see the king.
"Ah, King Jargon," the feline greeted. "What a surprise! It's not like you to come here, especially at this late hour."
"I came here to give you some most vital information," said the king. "I could not send anyone to fetch you, so I came myself. Listen, Lizarian—grace things are bound to happen soon; I just know it. Whatever it is you are doing, it had better be useful."
"How do you know that I was doing...anything? I never informed you of this."
"Your sisters told me that you are writing something, but not even they know what that may be. So tell me, what is it that you are writing?"
Lizarian heaved a sigh. "Come in and I shall explain everything."
The king stepped into the cabin, with Lizarian closing the door behind him. The king sat down in a wooden chair. Lizarian sat across from him, in the same kind of chair. They gazed at each other, not sure who should speak first.
"What is it you are writing exactly?" King Jargon asked after the awkward silence.
Lizarian grabbed the paper from off her desk and handed it to the king. "Lucky for you, I finished this right before you arrived," she said. "As to what this is—well, this is a prophecy that foretells the fate of all worlds. They are doomed to clash, but only if darkness remains."
"Interesting. And how did you come up with such a thing?"
"You may have forgotten, but I can see into both the past and the future."
"I am not speaking of that. I'm talking about these worlds you mentioned. You mean to tell me...there is more than one?"
Lizarian nodded. "Precisely. Now for my question: what did YOU mean when you said grave things may happen soon?"
"There is so much you still do not understand..."

January 1, 2018 (one year later)

A young boy with brown, spiky hair, blue eyes, light skin, a red shirt and baggy red shorts, a black vest, and yellow shoes that were way too big for his feet was lying in bed, thinking about what the next day would possibly bring. His significant other longed to see other worlds again, and he was going to grant that wish.
Right when he was about to stand up, a violent storm began to brew outside. The boy quickly ran outside to make sure the rafts that they were going to use to get to other worlds were still intact, but they had broken to pieces.
"Oh no!" the boy panicked. "This can't be good."
His friends stepped outside when they heard him scream, only to see that the boy was running in the opposite direction. What was seemingly a portal formed in the sky and he ran toward it, not even paying any mins to his friends, who were calling his name. The boy held onto a nearby post as he was slowly being sucked into the portal.
His fingers had slipped, causing him to be sucked into the dark portal. "Not again..." he grumbled. The portal closed behind him afterward.
The boy later woke up inside a log cabin. Three anthropomorphic felines were staring at him in awe. One was brown, one was gray, and one was orange. They all wore Egyptian-like clothing, with the brown-furred cat wearing a green amulet around her neck.
"Ah, you're finally awake," said the brown feline. "It's about time. We have something of the utmost importance to tell you."
"Where...am I?" the boy wondered, looking around.
"You are in Wish Town, a place where all wishes come true," the gray feline replied. "I am Alexandra, and this is Lizarian—" she pointed to the brown feline "—and Elizabeth." She pointed to the orange feline. "It is a pleasure to meet you, great hero."
"H-Hero?"
"You have been to multiple worlds in the past, yes?" Lizarian asked rhetorically. The boy nodded. "And you saved them from darkness, is that correct?" Once again, the boy nodded. "Then you are a great hero of sorts."
"But...how do you know all that?"
Lizarian looked at the other two felines. "I want you two to leave. Let me explain everything to him myself." Alexandra and Elizabeth nodded and left. "Your name is Sora, correct?"
The boy nodded. "How do you know me?"
"You are part of a prophecy I wrote exactly one year ago. It states that four guardians of light will come together and save all worlds from the pits of darkness. You happen to be one of them."
"Darkness? Again?"
"I'm afraid so. Allow me to explain more. Numerous worlds have been cast into darkness, thanks to a madman from each of them. Some of these worlds' respective guardians have even been controlled due to this monstrosity. You must find three guardians—guardians of three different worlds, to be more precise—and change all worlds back into what they once were. In order to find these guardians of light, you must go to Angel Island, Wumpa Island, and London. In order to get to each world, you must find a magic mirror hidden within the world you are currently in. I must warn you about the guardian of London, though..."
    "Why? What are they like?"
"While two of them have always been heroic, the other used to be...evil; she technically still is. She dislikes mortals because one murdered her family and did the same to her shortly after."
    "You mean she's dead?!"
"Precisely. I know that spirit can be reformed; she just needs to spend more time around mortals." Lizarian summoned a magic mirror. "Through here is where you start your journey. Go, great hero. I wish you the best of luck."
Sora stepped through the magic mirror, soon appearing on a beautiful island. It looked similar to his own, but it was miles larger in size. Before he even had time to look around, the ground began to shake underneath his feet. Screaming could be heard from a nearby village; Sora went to investigate.
The villagers could be seen dodging what appeared to be a large robot, that of such a bald man with a red suit and a wide, brown mustache was controlling. One villager, however, refused to run away: a blue anthropomorphic hedgehog wearing red shoes with white stripes, white gloves, and a brown scarf. He and the man appeared to be dueling.
After a humiliating defeat, the man fled in his robot. Soda quickly approached the hedgehog. "Who was that?" he asked.
"That was just Eggman," the hedgehog replied. Then he snickered. "I always call him Egghead to tease him. The name's Sonic, by the way. What's yours?"
"I'm Sora. Are you...the guardian of this island?"
    "How did you—"
"Listen, I was sent here to—" It then occurred to Sora about the World Order, a rule stating that no one could know the existence of other worlds. Then again, perhaps Lizarian's prophecy was against the matter. "You're not going to believe me."
    "Oh really? Try me."
"I was sent here to...find the guardian of this world." Sora proceeded to explain everything else, leaving Sonic quite bewildered. "I knew you weren't going to believe me..."
"Oh, I believe you. It's just that this is so...sudden. Well, if what you are saying is true, we must save those other worlds! Where to next?"
"There should be a magic mirror somewhere on this island. We must find it, and as quickly as possible. Who knows what might—" The ground began shaking again. "—happen. Oh boy..."
"The volcano is ready to erupt! We must gather all of the villagers to one location."
It took the duo only a few minutes to gather all of the villagers to the other side of the island, far away from the volcano. For some reason, however, the volcano stopped shaking and never erupted.
"What was that all about?" Sora asked.
"This must be Egghead's doing," Sonic said. "Let's go to that volcano as quickly as possible." Sonic began to run, but he stopped when he noticed Sora simply standing his ground. "Well, are you coming?"
"Could you maybe slow down a bit?"
    "Right. I'm...sorry. Let's go."
Soda and Sonic made their way to the volcano, where Eggman could be seen standing beside two small robots. They appeared to be installing a device of some sort; once they had done so, the sky above became purple.
"Hey!" Sonic called. "What are you fuzznuts doing?"
Eggman turned around in disgust. "You again..." he grumbled. Then he looked at Sora. "Ah, I see you've made another 'friend'. Friends are a waste of time, hedgehog!"
"That's not true!" Sora retorted. "Friends are the key to the light within our hearts. My friends have always been my power, and nothing is going to change that."
Eggman chuckled lightly. "Silly boy. I shall not let you interfere with my plans!"
A tornado could be seen forming in the sky. Before Sora and Sonic had time to react, they were sucked into the tornado. Eggman was laughing hysterically as he watched the display. He then went back to his base, along with the two robots.
Sora and Sonic found themselves inside the tornado; somehow, they were not injured. They were confused as to how they could stand in the tornado without a problem. They looked around when they heard maniacal laughter from nearby.
An anthropomorphic feline with red fur, black hair, green eyes, sharp claws and fangs, and a blue wizard's cloak appeared. "Who are you?" Sora demanded.
"Who I am is of no importance," the feline snarled. "I have come to deliver a message to you. You mustn't find the guardian of London. She will only cause destruction to other worlds."
Sora and Sonic could tell that the feline was obviously trying to trick them. "Why would you care?" Sonic asked.
"You dare choose to ignore me?! So be it..." The feline summoned a wand that appeared to be made of dragon scales. "You shall see the truth path of destruction!"
The feline used her wand to summon a portal, pulling Sora and Sonic inside. The portal closed behind them and the tornado vanished. Afterward, the duo appeared on Angel Island once more; they were in the village.
"Do you know who that was?" Sonic asked.
"No clue," Sora replied. "All that matters right now is stopping Eggman before he causes any more trouble than he already has."
"I remember exactly where his base is. Follow me...if you can keep up." Sonic began to run as fast as he could.
"Hey!"
Luckily, Sonic slowed down a few minutes later to allow Sora to catch up. Sometime later, they made it to Eggman's base, which was shaped like a large globe. Getting inside would not prove such an easy task...or would it?
"How are we going to get in?" Sora asked.
Sonic held his chin, deep in thought. Then an idea came to mind. The hedgehog used a spinning attack to knock the door off its hinges. He and Sora quietly entered the base, being careful as not to be seen. Little did they know that there were cameras in every room.
Meanwhile, Eggman was watching the duo through a small screen. He turned to his two robot companions. "I need you two to make sure they don't make it to this room," he ordered. "Go, now!"
"Y-Yes sir," the yellow robot stuttered.
"We will see to it that their efforts prove futile," the red robot said.
As the robots exited the room, Eggman began snickering to himself. "Soon, that hedgehog will be mine," he growled. "As for that boy—oh, whatever shall I do with him?"
Sora and Sonic were only one room away from making it to the room in which Eggman sat. Just as they were about to knock the final door down, the two robots appeared behind them. Soda summoned what appeared to be a key-shaped sword, distracting the robots while Sonic was working on the door.
"I can't hold them much longer," Sora said, continuously blocking the robots' ray guns.
"I'm trying to hurry," Sonic said.
The door had eventually been knocked down. Sora and Sonic entered the last room, with the robots following them. "We're sorry," the yellow robot said to Eggman. "We tried to stop them."
"And you failed!" Eggman scolded. He turned to his two enemies. "I suppose I must take care of this myself." He stood out of his seat. "Aisleen has told me quite a lot about you, Sora."
"H-How do you know me?!" Sora snapped.
"Didn't I just say that Aisleen told me, you imbecile? Your goal is to reach other worlds, correct? Well, I will not allow that. She wouldn't allow that."
"Just who is Aisleen?" asked Sonic.
"Oh, I'll gladly tell you...for a small price. Give me the chaos emeralds at once, hedgehog!"
"Not a chance! You want to destroy the island with them! I know you too well..."
"Not believing me, eh? Well, you shall see the truth soon enough. Aisleen!"
The red feline from earlier appeared in the room. "You!" Sora gasped. "I had a feeling something was odd about you. What are you planning?"
"That is none of your concern," Aisleen growled. "Give us the chaos emeralds, or else..."
"Sonic, what is she talking about?"
"The chaos emeralds are what protect this island," Sonic explained. "If they land in the wrong hands, destruction will befall the island. We mustn't let that happen at all costs!"
"Robots!" Eggman called. An agglomeration of robots appeared in the vicinity. "Attack!" Eggman fled the scene as the robots and Aisleen began to attack Sora and Sonic.
"We can't let Egghead get away!"
"I'll distract these guys while you go after him," Sora said, summoning his peculiar weapon.
"Quickly, what is that?"
"It's a Keyblade. Now go!"
Sonic ran after Eggman as Sora used his Keyblade to vanquish the robots. After they had been dealt with, all that was left was Aisleen, who was using dark magic against the Keyblade wielder.
"You shall meet your doom," said Aisleen. "Darkness will befall you; I'll see to that."
"No, light shall overpower darkness!" Sora retorted.
"What makes you so sure, boy? Darkness is the heart's true nature!"
"Sure, we may have our ups and downs at times, but our friends are what make us special. My friends are my power!"
"But your 'friends' are not here, silly mortal. Do you really think there is anything you can do to stop me?"
As soon as Aisleen uttered those words, Sonic appeared in the room again. He dragged Eggman with him; the man was tied up in ropes. The more he tried to escape, the tighter the ropes became.
"I didn't miss anything, did I?" Sonic asked.
"No, you came just in time," Sora replied, smirking.
Eggman and his two cronies helplessly watched as Sora and Sonic were slowly defeating Aisleen. The feline's magic was clearly doing nothing against the mortals. After a while, she snapped her fingers, causing a small sack to appear in her paws.
"Give that back!" Sonic commanded.
"Not a chance," Aisleen said. "These emeralds, you see, will give me the power to take over this world. There is no one that can stop me! Darkness shall rise and destroy this world once and for all!"
"You're crazy!" Sora said. "The Darkness is not what you think it is! It will take over your heart just as it has countless others!"
Aisleen smiled menacingly. "Whoever said that I have a heart?"
"W-What?"
"There is so much you have yet to learn...and there is little time for that. I am going to force you, all of you, to watch as I destroy your precious island. Just you wait..." Aisleen disappeared through a portal of darkness.
"We must go after her," Sonic said. He looked at Eggman. "And you're coming with us."
"And why should I aid my greatest enemy?" Eggman scoffed.
"Just come with us! I promise you won't have to see us for a good while after this. Got that?" Eggman nodded as Sonic untied the ropes. "Good. Let's go, and quickly!"
As Eggman was about to walk out of the room, he turned to his two robots. "I want you two to look after the place while I'm gone. And no, this does not mean I am turning over a new leaf!" He, finally, exited the room.
The trio soon reached the village of Angel Island, where Aisleen could be seen floating in the air, speaking to all the villagers, including the mayor. "Listen up!" she said. "I am Aisleen, master of all things dark and unholy. I shall be the new ruler of this island, and I will destroy anyone who dares to complain. Your silly hero, Sonic, can't do anything to stop me. I have the chaos emeralds now, see, and I shall use them to take over the world!"
"I thought you said just this island," a villager corrected.
"Quiet, you..."
"We have to help them!" Sora said to Sonic.
They, including Eggman, causing the feline to glare at them. "Give back the chaos emeralds!" Sonic ordered.
"It's not going to be that easy, hedgehog," said Eggman.
"Yeah, listen to the fat man," Aisleen snarled. "The chaos emeralds are mine now, so you can whine all you want. Try and stop me..."
Sonic smiled. "Challenge accepted," he said.
"Wha—"
Sonic closed his eyes and held his arms outward. The chaos emeralds floated out of the bag and surrounded Sonic as he transformed into a yellow hedgehog. He flew upward, now face-to-face with Aisleen.
"H-How?!" she shouted.
"It's about time for you to leave," Sonic warned.
Feeling utterly defeated, Aisleen heaved a sigh. "Fine, you win this one. But next time we meet won't be so grand for you..."
The evil feline disappeared and the sky returned to normal. The villagers began to cheer. "Thank you, both of you," said the mayor. "Because of you, Angel Island is sage once again." He looked at the boy beside Sonic. "And what is your name?"
"I'm Sora," said Sora.
The ground began shaking once more. Sonic turned back to his original form, falling to the ground. Everyone watched as the chaos emeralds became completely black and vanished from sight.
"What has happened to the chaos emeralds?" one of the villagers wondered aloud.
"I don't know," Sonic said in response, "but we must find whatever, or whoever, is responsible for this. Let's go, Sora."
The duo walked away to search for any mirror that may be magic; they figured the chaos emeralds had disappeared to another world. They eventually found a magic mirror, which just so happened to be located in Sonic's house. Sora held his Keyblade outward, causing a portal to form within the mirror. The duo stepped through the portal, wondering what awaited them.
