The girl stepped into the shop. She had finally found a job that would at least gave her a chance. Even thought this was her last choice, she'd be glad for anything right about now. Sooyoung greeted her. "Welcome, how may I help you?"
"I need a job." she said.
"Oh, um, well alright." Sooyoung said. She was honestly a bit surprised. "How about you take a seat. I'll be right with you."
The girl bowed respectfully and sat down at the nearest table. She waited patiently for Sooyoung.
Soo-y came out and was surprised to find a girl there. It was her first day at the job and she was panicking. Neither Chaeyoung nor Sooyoung had instructed her what to do if there was a customer. She was pacing around behind the counter, contemplating whether she should welcome the customer or ask for her order already.
"Ah, Soo-y, it's okay." Sooyoung said, appearing behind her. "She's an applicant."
"O-oh, yes, sorry unnie." Soo-y stuttered and moved out the way.
Sooyoung gave her a gentle smile. "Nah, it's okay. For now, just welcome the people and leave the ordering to me. Alright?"
"Yes, unnie." Soo-y said. She was a bit disappointed that she couldn't even talk to others, and how she seemed so shy. She wanted to change.
Sooyoung gave her a slight nod and went over to the girl who was boredly staring at the wooden table in front of her. Sooyoung slid the chair and sat down. The girl looked up and gave her a little nod. "Well, I head you wanted to apply, right?"
"Yes, that's right." the girl said.
"Name, please?"
"Hyun Yerin."
"Ah yes, a very nice name." Sooyoung said. "So, Yerin, which position are you thinking of applying for?"
Yerin frowned. "Well, I was thinking of cashier because it looks like a simple job."
"Are you good at math?"
"No."
"Oh." Sooyoung said. She didn't like to admit it, but they were a bit desperate. They've only received 3 new workers, well 4 if you counted Yerin. "I think that can be managed. We're looking for a cashier who can interact well with the customers, and can communicate well with the other workers as well. Are you up for it?"
"I can try, I guess." Yerin shrugged.
"Have you had any experience in this?"
"Uh, no."
"Why do you want to work here?"
"I don't think you'd agree if I said I don't know so, I want to work here for experience. You know, to see how things work and how a real job feels like." she shrugged.
"I see." Sooyoung said, even though she didn't not see anything.
Sooyoung had a half mind to decline Yerin, and a half mind to accept her. She honestly did not know what to do.
Chaeyoung walked over to them. "Yerin, do you have any other ambitions?"
Yerin scrunched up her face. "Uh no, not really."
"All good." Chaeyoung said brightly. "You're in!"
"Huh?" Sooyoung said out loud, which caused them both to look at her. "I mean, nevermind." she mumbled.
Chaeyoung turned back to Yerin. "Your shift starts next week, ok?"
Yerin nodded. She stood up and bowed to both girls before leaving the shop.
"Why did you let her in?" Sooyoung asked. "Not trying to sound rude or anything, but..."
Chaeyoung shrugged. "No reason."
She left and returned to the staff room.
