Thriteen

"Bryan Maclin!"

The crowd roared with a round of applause as Bryan walked to the stage; I was now convinced that he's a hacker because this was so unbelievable! He only comes for weekend classes for advanced students! He stood beside with his cheeky grin.

"Why did you run against Allen?"

I was happy for him but he knows how much Allen wanted to be prom king and I'm sure he's furious.

"If my best friend is prom queen, why can't I be prom king?"

"Because she has a boyfriend!"

I angrily exclaimed but the speakers drowned my voice. He saw how angry I was and tried to calm me down

"I'm sorry Delzzy, don't get angry at me"

He begged me with his cute puppy face he knows I couldn't resist; I had to hug him before I started laughing at how ridiculous he looked. The photographer took a few pictures for the school yearbook then we had the king and queens dance and I never knew Bryan was a pro at dancing. I overheard some comments from the crowd

"Omg they look so cute together"

"I think they're dating"

The best part is that they're best friends"

"I wish I was Delansy right now"

The last one made me smile a bit. I was actually having fun until

"Excuse me Bryan but may I have my date now"

I turned around and saw Allen on stage, angrier than ever.

"Our song's not over yet, Allen"

He said with glaring eyes and a big sneer on his lip, I had to do something before things get worse.

"It's ok Bryan"

Allen took me angrily in his arms and walked off the stage, Bryan wanted to stop him be he was crowded by a group of girls after I left. We went to our seats after the little drama and he sat facing me with his upset brown eyes.

"Delansy think you should spend less time with Bryan"

I looked at him like he's crazy

"I don't know Allen, He's my best friend. I don't think it's possible"

"Dela, I'm your boyfriend not him! What I'm trying to say is that you spend a lot of time with him instead me"

I knew being with Bryan would make him jealous but it's only fair since he left me for the boys earlier and Bryan kept me company ever since.

"Ok, I promise I'll stay with you for the rest of the evening"

I just said it to calm him down and things got back to normal.

"Fine"

He reluctantly replied which made me start wondering if he really cares about me .We continued from where we stopped, I almost forgot how good it felt talking to him. After that, I took a few more photos and walked around with Kenny as we both shared the praise, I was surprisingly delighted with the attention I got for the whole evening because I'm the shy type.

It all ended by 8:55 and everyone exchanged numbers and said their farewells, I made sure I got Kendra's number and everything I could use to haunt her down with incase we lose contact. She accidently tripped on her own feet on her way out, I had to be a good friend and laugh a bit before I helped her up although she a great fighter, she's has terrible body coordination. That's how she got her nick name "Clumsy Kenny" but I'll admit, I'm going to miss when she goes back to Australia. Allen started his car

"Let me take you home Delansy"

"Thanks Allen, but mum's on her way"

"You sure cause I really want you safe by my side"

"aww that's so sweet ,but i can't "

"Please Delly .I'll get worried if you stay here all by yourself"

He said with his cute face that usually makes me blush but surprisingly, it didn't work this time after what happened this night.

"I'm sorry Allen, I can't"

I replied in a very serious tone, he gave up asking and drove off.

It's 9:00 now and mum still hasn't showed up. I'm starting to think that she must have slept off because off her rough day, it's not the first time this is happening to me so I'm not freaking out. Bryan noticed me and asked

"Isn't your mum coming?"

"She's supposed to but I guess she must have slept off"

"Let's call her"

He dialed her number and it rung but no one picked it up, not even Britney

"Hmmmmm...Maybe you're right. You sure you don't me to take you home?'

"Thanks Bryan but I'm sure she's on her way now .she must have forgotten her phone at home"

I said with enough optimism that convinced Bryan

"Ok dela if you say so. I better start going now. Mum would flip if I'm not back by 9:05"

She had always been like that since he's the only guy at home. He gave me a hug before he left with some guys.

It's 9:15 now and I'm the only person in the hall till the janitor came.

"Aren't you going out, I want lock this place up"

'I'm coming"

I wondered why mum didn't come and why Britney didn't answer the landline as I left.
