Her father? Everyone had heard of Magic Magi but no one knew who she really was, what her real name was, let alone who her family was. There were lots of rumors, the one more ridiculous than the other. Most people believed she was born in the high class of society, till one day her parents were brutally murdered and she ended up all alone in the lower class. Ever since she has been wandering the streets, working towards vengeance. Some people including me believed she was the daughter of Em Mort, goddess of death, gifted with the art to kill people and apparently also gifted with invisibility. It seemed like I was finally going to learn the real story behind the most legendary assassin to ever have set foot on this earth.
Even though I would never say it out loud, I could use help hunting down the man who wants me dead, the man who I didn't even knew existed minutes ago, the man who was her father, but I couldn't let her know that.
Thus I said with an as neutral voice as possible, "I will help you on two conditions, one you tell me everything there is to know about you and your father and two you will show your face while doing so." It was quiet for a moment, while she was thinking over the conditions.
"Good, I will tell you everything," she said while there was starting to appear a girl on the small closet. She had blond hair which was pinned up beautifully to not get in the way of her eyes, her sparkling blue eyes, who were just like sapphires in her tanned face with. She was wearing a tight-fitting black leather suit which was not only very convenient for her job but also looked really good on her.
I noticed my mouth was open so I quickly closed it and stammered, " I-I think we are gonna need a drink. There is a flask hanging off my bag." I was pointing at my bag which was still resting on the chair. She got up from the closet, got the flask, and handed it to me while sitting down on the bed.
I took a sip and said, "some Kebehiq always helps, it's the best drink in all of Ellietia. Now let's start."
She looked sad while I handed her the flask, she took a sip and started, "let's start at the beginning. My real name is princess Magdalena Xspiravi, daughter of his majesty King Malu Xspiravi the third of Ellietia, but you can call me Magi and as I said -"
I interrupted her, " with all due respect your royal highness, but you're full of bagel." I could see the shock on her face it was like no one has ever spoken to her like this.
"Excuse me?"
With a small smile on my face, I continued, "everyone knows that that piece of bagel that calls himself king only has a son."
She lashed out throwing the flask through the room, "that's what he wants you to think if you would just let me finish!"
I nodded, staying quiet not knowing what to respond for the first time in ages as she continued, "As I already said my father is sending assassins to capture you, dead or alive."
"Who did he send?" I asked but before she could answer there was a knock on the door. She brought her finger to her mouth as a sign to be quiet. As we didn't respond the person knocked again, louder this time. I silently took the knife I had hidden under my pillow and got out of the bed still a bit dizzy from being stabbed earlier in the night. While I walked over to the door Magi took position next to the door with her rapier drawn.
"Are you any good with that?" I whispered while the person on the other side of the door knocked again. She nodded as I reached the door.
