Ace looked like he just got through hell.

His face was bloodied and bruised, his hair was all over his forehead, sweaty and sticky. He had a gun on his right hand and his left was balded in a fist. There was a gash on the top of his left eyebrow, dried blood stained it.

His white shirt was dirtied, blood in some places, and shoe marks as well. There was a knife cut on his left chest but it didn't seem deep because the blood seeping through had already dried up as well. I could feel that his lower body was equally messed up but his jeans had covered it well.

"Ace," I said but it came out as a croak.

He scanned me with concern but in a blink of an eye, it turned into a bloodshot glare. He scowled at Mr. Macklet who was staring at him in disbelief.

"I dare you to fucking kick her again," he aimed the gun straight at Mr. Macklet and his guards stood in front of him protectingly.

"If you pull the trigger, she dies," Mr. Macklet threatened and that was when I realized the muscular man had a gun pointed at me. He kneeled beside my head and placed the point of the gun right at my temple.

My heart stopped. Having a gun pointed at you was no joke, having it touch your temple was beyond comprehension. I felt my hands tremble, I couldn't feel my body at all. I was frozen in fear.

"Drop that or she dies," the muscular man spoke.

Ace gritted his teeth, torn by the situation. His eyes were as solid as sapphire, he was focused, I knew he had a plan.

"Vandia, remember when you asked me why I wanted to become a doctor?" he asked out of nowhere as he starts to put the gun down. I gave him a questioning look, I knew he wanted to save his brother and help other people that was why he became a doctor but what did it have to do with the situation?

"No matter what happens, I will save you," he smiled reassuringly at me.

It happened in a blink of an eye, he pointed the gun at me, well I thought it was me, and he fired. My eyes went shut as I heard the gunshot, I was expecting to feel the bullet hit my body but instead, I felt something heavy drop on my head.

The muscular man screamed in pain as he held onto his hand, blood oozing through his wrist. The gun had dropped on my head and despite the pain, I felt on my right arm, I ordered my body to grab it.

I heard another shot and this time the man who had kicked me twice just now dropped on the floor, holding onto his knee cap.

"Run Vandia!" Ace screamed as he engaged on a hand to hand combat with one of the guards that were protecting Mr. Macklet just now. There had been a total of four guards, two were already shot, another is fighting with Ace and the last one is now eyeing me.

He grabbed a knife from his pocket, he did not seem to have a gun, unlike the muscular one. He didn't rush to get me, instead, he stood in front of Mr. Macklet protectively.
