There are several important factors that go into easy travel. I'm going to explain how to pack a bag so that it's easier to find stuff and unpack.
1. Get a good back pack on with preferably a lot of room
2. Put a sleeping bag on the bottom. Tie it onto the outside
3. Keep the heavier items in the middle close to your back. This keeps your balance better than at the bottom of your pack
4. More important items, maps, flashlight, first-aid, snacks should be keep in the outside pouches
5. Put items inside containers that they work with. Ex. Utensils go in a cup to save space
6. To prevent spillage from ruining things pack water on the opposite side of your cloth
7. If you are tying stuff to you back pack make sure it's tight and evenly balanced with other objects
8. If you want to bring anything like a deck of cards, books, ect then pack everything else first then decide if you have room
9. I can't stress this enough don't pack too heavy. Take what you need, don't bring everything for every what-if situation. Maybe take some for the what-if situations that will most likely occur but that's it.
10. On that note don't pack too light! You still need stuff and don't want to be miserable with only a small ration of food left to eat half-way through your journey
