[Marinette POV]

We all jumped and turned to the front door. Felix walked in as Adrien tried to hide behind me.

"I told you not to go here, Adrien!!!" Felix exclaimed angrily. Adrien popped his head out from behind me and smiled sheepishly.

"Sorry, Felix," Adrien whispered, glancing at the panicked kittens.

"Do you know what Uncle Gabriel would do if he knew that you went back here again?!?!" Felix yelled, tears in his eyes. Adrien sat beside the kittens with a sigh and petted them.

"I know, Felix, it's just that this is my happy place!!" Adrien said with a sad smile. Felix sighed.

"I know," he replied quietly. "But Uncle Gabriel would literally blow up if he found out you volunteered here!!" Adrien stared at the floor sadly. 

"I know," he whispered. Wang Fu put a hand on Adrien's shoulder.

"I know what your father would do if he found out you were here, so if he does found out, I'll take the blame," Wang Fu offered.

"What about the shelter?!?!" Adrien asked with panic in his eyes. "What about the animals?!?!" Wang Fu smiled sadly at Adrien.

"I don't know." 

"Can someone please explain to me what is going on?!?!?!" I yelled, my hands on my hips. Everyone turned to me. Felix opened his mouth to talk, but Adrien silenced him with a glare. I turned to Wang Fu.

"It is not my job to tell you," he told me and I groaned.

"I can't believe that I liked hanging out with someone who put gum on my seat!!!" I exclaimed, glaring at Adrien.

"What is she talking about, Adrien?" Wang Fu asked. Adrien opened his mouth.

"On the second day of school, he put gum on my seat for no reason!!!" I replied, my face red with anger.

"Marin-"

"No, Felix!!!!" I shouted, inching towards Adrien. "People have taken advantage of me for far too long!!!! I'm sick and tired of it and I will not stand for it anymore!!!!" 

I raised my hand and Adrien's eyes went wider than I thought eyes could go and he was shaking. I looked into his eyes to see that they were distant. Like they were on replay.

Suddenly, all the kittens stood in front of Adrien and hissed at me. Felix ran to Adrien and shook him by the shoulders.

"Adrien!!!" Felix shouted. "ADRIEN!!!!"

My hand fell to my side as I saw Adrien squeeze his eyes shut tightly and his breathes came out heavy and fast.

"Wh-what's happening?!" I asked in panic.

"It's happening again," Wang Fu said, staring sadly at the now trembling Adrien.

"What's happening again?!?!" I asked. Wang Fu sighed.

"They might explain," he told me.

I sat on the ground and waited about 20 minutes for Adrien to get under control. It felt like forever.

Felix rubbed circles on Adrien's back as he took a drink of water that Wang Fu gave him.

"I'm okay now," Adrien told us and gave us a small smile. "Thanks."

"Please don't scare me like that again!!" Felix scolded seriously. Adrien smiled at him.

"I never knew you could get that scared!" Adrien joked and Felix crossed his arms. "You know I can't promise that."

"What was going on?" I asked hesitantly. Felix and Adrien shared a look.

"I have panic attacks," Adrien told me. My eyes widened in shock.

"R-really?" I asked and Adrien nodded.

"I've had them ever since I was little," he told me. "They've only gotten worse after..."

Felix continued to rub circles on Adrien's back. I crawled to him and sat beside him.

"After what?" I asked softly. Adrien turned to Felix.

"After Aunt Emilie died," Felix choked out.

My eyes widened. Adrien lost his mother?!?!?! How and why?!?!?!

"I-... I'm so so so sorry!! I've made your life even worse!!" I couldn't help the few tears that escaped my eyes. Adrien wiped them away with his thumb.

"I should've just told you that Chloe put the gum on your seat," he mumbled.

"What?!?!" I exclaimed in shock. Adrien sighed.

"Chloe put the gum on your seat and I tried to take it off," he explained. "When you came in and accused me, I just couldn't bring myself to rat out Chloe. She was my only friend before I met Nino."

"Didn't your father let you make friends?" I asked. Adrien shook his head.

"Father has never really let me out of the house or listened to my requests," he told me.

"And what were those requests?" I asked.

"To go to public school," he told me, "to stop doing photo shoots, to make friends, let me do what I wanted for once."

"You got to go to public school!" I reminded him. Adrien sighed.

"After I sneaked out for the 56th time and 8 slaps," Adrien told me.

I wanted to say something positive, but I couldn't! My heart hurt for Adrien. He lost his mother, his father never listened to him, his father slapped him, he has panic attacks, Chloe was his only friend for almost his whole life, his only friends are Chloe and Nino, and I shut him out because he tried to help me.

Felix had left right before Adrien told me about the gum incident.

I tackled Adrien in a hug as I cried into his chest.

"I'm-I'm s-s-so sor-sorry, Adr-Adrien!!!!!" I cried. "I-I-I wi-wish I knew about the-the-the g-gum incident earlier s-so I-I cou-cou-could've b-been th-there f-f-for you!!!!!!"

Adrien rubbed circles on my back and my sobs slowly disappeared. Adrien smiled at me and I smiled back. 

"That means a lot to me," Adrien and I buried my face into his chest again.

I've never felt this comfortable with anyone before! Adrien's like my safe place.

I felt something lick my arm and looked up at Adrien. His eyes widened in panic and his cheeks turned a light pink.

"I didn't do it!!!!" he exclaimed, waving his hands in the air. "It was him!!!!" Adrien pointed at Plagg who was running away. I giggled.

"He loves me!" I said.

Adrien laughed and Tikki chased after Plagg. Soon, all the kittens joined in the chase.

I looked down and realized that I was sitting in Adrien's lap. My face burned as I quickly backed away. I covered my head in my hands as I groaned in embarrassment. Adrien laughed with red tinted cheeks and I soon joined him.

"Nino is going to be so happy that we're friends!!" Adrien told me.

"Why?" I asked.

"Because he has a thing for Alya," Adrien whispered in my ear. I gasped in excitement.

"Alya likes Nino too!!!" I exclaimed happily. "We should totally get them together!!!"

"I full-heartily agree," Adrien said with a big smile.

Plagg climbed Adrien until he got on top of his head. The other kittens waited for him around me and Adrien. We laughed.
