I woke up the next morning in pain. I put my hand to my head and groaned. I was wondering why I was in so much pain but then I remembered that I shifted last night for the first time. A shiver went down my spine as I recalled what all happened. I almost jumped out of my skin when there was a knock on my door.
"Come in." I said.
My dad opened my door "You better get up."
I looked at my clock "But its Saturday morning."
He sighed "Yes I know but you need to start packing."
I looked at him confused "Why?"
He sighed again "Because your moving into the pack house."
I stared at him in shock "Why?"
He shook his head "Because they think you may end up going out of control so they want to keep an eye on you."
I continued to stare at him in shock "WHAT?!?!?! Why do they need to keep an eye on me? Did I do something wrong? Do they not trust me to keep the secret?"
He shook his head at me "No its not that. Its just last night when you shifted, you were calm and under control. That usually doesn't happen. Usually when you first shift your out of control and you attack anything that moves."
I took in what he said and I looked down at my hands "I'm sorry I'm so different and that I can't do anything right."
He seemed to get angry "Now that's not true Jade."
I looked up at him "It is dad. I can't even go out of control like I'm supposed to..."
I looked down at my hands again and he sighed "I said wolves usually attack the first thing they see. Not all do, they are just worried about you." I nodded and got up "I guess I better get started."
He nodded and went to walk out but then turned around "Oh and you'll only be taking most of your things. You'll be here one day a month."
I nodded and got started. I finished around lunch time. My parents were helping me move my things. It was around three when we got all my stuff in my new room in the pack house. My brothers ran up to me and hugged me good bye.
I hugged my parents good bye "I love all of you."
They hugged me back "We love you too."
They turned around and walked out of the door and got in the car and left. I sighed and walked back to my room. I opened the first box and began unpacking. I had just finished when I heard someone say the food was ready but I wasn't that hungry so I just stayed in my room. After about ten maybe fifteen minuets I heard a knock on my bedroom door.
I opened the door to see James standing there "My mom isn't letting anyone eat until you get down there."
I nodded and walked out of my room and down the stairs after James. When we got down there I noticed James was sitting down already and the only open seat was next to him. I looked around the table and saw Alice and Brian sitting next to each other, and Brittany was sitting next to Austin.
"Don't be shy dearie come on in and have a seat there next to James." His mom told me.
I nodded my head and sat down in the seat she was referring to. I looked down at my hands as a plate was set in front of me.
I looked up at James' smiling mother "Ummm I'm not hungry."
She shook her head "Non-since dearie. You need to eat."
I didn't want to argue with her so I didn't say anything else. Once all of the food was brought out I got about a half a spoon full of mashed potatoes, a little bit of mac and cheese, and the smallest piece of chicken there was. James' mom looked down at my plate with worry. I just smiled at her. She didn't look very convinced but she didn't say anything. I was grateful for that. Once I was finished eating my small amount of food, I got up and took my plate to the dishes. Everyone else was already finished so I thought I would do the dishes for everyone. James' mom walked in and saw that I was about halfway through with them.
She walked up to me "What do you think your doing?"
I looked up at her while washing the plates "Washing the dishes."
"And why are you washing the dishes?" She asked.
I began rinsing the plates "Its the least I could do for you letting me stay here."
She just nodded "Ok I can take it from here."
She began to shoo me out of the kitchen. Once she finally had me out of the kitchen I walked up to my room and closed the door behind me. I turned around once the door was shut and screamed. There sitting on my bed was James.
"I'm sorry I'll leave." I said as I went to turn around and leave, but as soon as I had my hand on the knob I felt two hands on my waist and I was on my bed a second later. James had me pinned down on the bed as soon as my back touched it. I tried to break free of his grasp but his hands just tightened around my wrists. I looked up into his eyes and noticed they were black with gold mixed into them. I swallowed a nervous gulp as I realised his wolf was in control. I squirmed again trying my best to get free.
"You might want to stop moving unless you want me to do something we could both regret at the moment."
I froze instantly.
"Now that's better." He said.
I grew scared. Just wanting to be out of his grasp. He began to lean in. His face come closer and closer to mine. There was about an inch left in between our lips when there was a knock on my door.
"Jade dear, I'm sorry for kicking you out of the kitchen. Your not mad at me are you?" James' mom's voice came from the other side of the door.
I began to panic. What if she opened the door? "Its ok I wanted to come to my room and read a book anyway."
"Ok do you mind if I come in?" She asked.
"Um I'd rather you not, I'm getting ready for bed right now." I said.
"Oh well maybe we can talk later?" She asked.
"Sure." I said.
I heard her foot steps going away. It seems like that time broke James out of his trance.
"What the Heck?" He asked.
He jumped up off my bed.
"If you tell anyone about this you will regret it!" He said.
I just nodded my head.
'Don't let him get away.'
'Huh?'
'I said don't let him get away from us!'
'I what do you mean?'
'Do you not remember the shocks that ran up your arms when he grabbed your wrists?'
I then realized what she was talking about. James was my mate.
I hope you like my story so far. I would really appreciate your opinion! ~Jade
