You looked down at your aeroplane ticket once more to make sure you had the right seat number as you made your way through the aisle. You noticed the number on one of the chairs up ahead, it was a window seat and were thankful you didn't have to squeeze past the other passengers for much longer to find it. As you reached your seat you noticed the seat next to yours was already taken by a blond man who seemed preoccupied with his phone.
You decided it was best to put your backpack on the shelf overhead first before speaking up, "Excuse me, can I...?" You motioned towards the seat beside the man. He looked almost startled at first, staring at you for a moment, not expecting anyone to talk to him before realising what you were referring to. Gosh he looked pretty, he had the most beautiful green eyes and freckles decorated his face.
"Oh, yeah, of course." He stood up from his seat to let you pass him, you mumbled a thank you before sitting in your place, trying not to think too hard about the attractive stranger as he sat back down beside you and resumed messing around on his phone.
Looking through the small bag you brought along that was stuffed with things to occupy your time on the flight you decided to try and make conversation with your neighbour, you noticed he was wearing a Twitch hoodie and decided to use it to your advantage as a conversation starter. "Are you going to Twitch-con?"
The man looked up from his phone before putting it away in his pocket, "Yeah, I assume from you asking that means you are too?" He chuckled and you nodded in response.
"Yeah, I am! Are you going as a creator or a fan?" You were curious to see what his answer would be and his motives for going.
"I'm a creator actually, I'm hosting a meet-up with some fans," The stranger sheepishly rubbed the back of his head.
"Woah, that's impressive," You laughed, "Any chance I've heard of you before?"
"Probably not, I haven't streamed properly for long, I mostly upload to Youtube. How about you? Are you a creator too?" He seemed excited at the chance to talk about games.
"Actually no, I'm just going for the game trailers and announcements. I'll also be meeting one of my friends for the first time in person so that's exciting!" You paused for a moment realising you hadn't properly introduced yourself. "Oh! I'm (Y/N) by the way," You held your hand out for him to shake and he took it.
"Clay."
The two of you talked for a little while longer about video games and your plans at the convention. A few minutes later, one of the hostesses walked down the aisle checking that everyone had their seat belts on for take-off as the pilot made an announcement on the speaker that the plane would be leaving soon. You noticed Clay take a deep breath, "You okay?"
"I'm uh, not that great with planes." He gave a nervous laugh and you gave him a sympathetic look.
"Good job this flight isn't six hours long then isn't it?" You joked to try and ease his worries a little but it seems like you just reminded him how long his suffering would be.
"Well it beats the 36 hours it would take to drive there." Clay shot back at you with a halfhearted grin.
"Try not to worry about it, I'm sure we'll be fine. There are less than a hundred crashes a year and statistically 95% of people survive them." You gave him a assured look and he looked back at you in terror as if he couldn't believe you thought that would make him less nervous. You bit your lip and thought for a moment. "When I get nervous on flights I tend to listen to music to block out my surroundings, it really helps with soothing nerves. Either that or sometimes watching a film helps too."
