The manananggal, which translates to "one who removes/takes off/separates", is a vampire-like mythical creature native to the Philippines, a malevolent, man-eating and blood-sucking monster or witch.
There once was a beautiful woman. Who's beauty dwarfed the others of her village.
She, although had many possible suiters,has never accepted one. Not even the handsomest of the village nor the smartest.
One day,people started finding corpses of humans with scratches of unidentifiable creature.
More and more people died as the days go on. Until one day,one of the villagers saw the beautiful woman sprout bat like wings,and its upper seperated from its lower. With fangs sharp as the finest swords that can kill in mear seconds.
It screeched before flying off and leaving its lower half behind. It's organs were dangling off the aswangs body.
The villager ran to his house to grab salt but he heard a screech before a woman pounced on him and started clawing at his heart and consuming it.
The other villagers heard the man scream and looked to see what it was.
"An aswang!" One yelled and grabbed a rifle. The others grabbed torches and chased after the manananggal.
One threw the torch at the aswang,but it's wings swatted it away and it fell onto the village. Setting the very flammable houses a blaze.
The village burned to the ground as the sun rises to the horizon.
By that time,the village was a ghost town. Everyone died that day. All exept one.
The beautiful woman on her knees sobbing. "What have I done to my home?"
She couldn't control her aswang. She didn't mean to do it. She loved that village. It was her home. And the people she grew close with. Are gone.

Ok ok. To kill a manananggal,you must find its lower half while it's hunting for prey and put salt on the top and at dawn,as the manananggal goes back to its lower half,the salt will burn her skin and kill her.
