.....

Sooyoung, i'll replace you for a little while

That's always the reason Sungjae made to be with Dahyun. Day by day, the memory of his childhood love started to vanish...like it never exist, like she never exist

Then came 1997: The war and the military duty has finished

It's time for him to go back home, back to her

But he didn't

He felt sure that Sooyoung had died

Sungjae indeed returned to his village. The village that used to be beautiful in the spring, when the trees, which lined the riverbank, bloomed with pink and rose-colored blossoms has became a pile of dust.

It was a chaos. Everything has been destroyed after the bomb and the ground was full with the broken pieces of the house. It felt like an abandoned village: deserted and ruined. Nothing last like before except the lake.

It still sparkled like a giant butterfly in the sun

It's a miracle for it to stay so fair, the water remained fresh and the shape stayed undamaged. He sat at the edge for the view has calmed him

It was until dawn came that he suddenly remembered his promise. He promised that Sooyoung will be his only one

I'll wait for you
I won't find anyone other than you

He knew he must be waiting for her but how...she's dead

' are you alright?'

A touch. He recognized Dahyun by his side, looking worried

' This is the lake that i've been telling you!'  He pointed with amusement whilst Dahyun became puzzled

She couldn't see the lake

-----

These is what has happened:

After he left his village, he made a life with Dahyun in a city. Oh! how easy it was for him to forget Sooyoung! Since then, no one ever seen a lake in the form of a butterfly

Sungjae didn't believe that a promise could turn to a curse. He thought it was a lot of nonsense

well, it isn't

at the day their child was born, he found the white butterfly on Jin's hand and a whisper of a woman's voice

He'll be as heartless as you

you might predict: who's voice was that ?

Sooyoung has died
The promise hasn't
so her soul lingers... like a ghost

keep your promise,
it may not be of value to those who say but always ring in the heart who expect it to be fullfilled
