A saying said that time passes slowly if you are unaware of it and quickly if you aware of it; but to Sungjae, it's the opposite. He's been longing his hometown, his family and his old life for seven years but the wish to meet them again has turned to ashes.

Two years before ....the Great Bomb fell in Daegu; it nearly killed all the residents including his parents and it completely ravaged the whole village. He realized that the desire for coming home will be painful; it'll ache him to witness the wreck.

He tried forgetting his home, abandoning his past even though, he couldn't. Something restrain him: The Promise.

I'll wait for you ---I won't find someone else other than you

Those word echoed in his head whenever he tried to forget his past                  Could she still be alive?

He felt the fine breeze of Seoul and watched the sunset drowning into the sea as he stood on a pieces of a fallen bridge

Just three more years until this war end, until my military duty is over

He was deep in his thoughts when he noticed a presence near him. He turned to catch a glimpse of a woman. Her eyes were appealing, her skin was pale and her lip was the color of blood

' The commander need you..oh-why are you here?'

Dahyun, she's the sister and the assistant for the commander. To Sungjae, she's just an attractive lady that every man obeyed.

' I was just breathing, it's pretty here'

She turned her gaze to the sun that has disappeared,' Uh, I wander if I can always come here, it's nice but I have to be careful.'

' mmm...it's dangerous tho'

' But I've seen you many times in here without any harm, I just hope...uh'

Sungjae eyes widened. For the past horrible years, he'd been alone without any mate

Maybe she could lighten my loneliness a bit

'Is it fine if I be your companion then?"

'Why not, every evening alright!' Dahyun showed him a heartening face and he gave her a wink

After the last light from the sun faded, they both left the shattered bridge and went beck to their camp but something disturbed Sungjae: his guilt. He looked up at the sky, perhaps, searching for a butterfly

Sooyoung....I'll just replace you for a while

----------

From that day, they become closer as they spent time together at the bridge. Just like how Sungjae and Sooyoung....through the lake. One evening, he complimented that the view recalled him of Lake Toba.

' It's been nine years now, It shines like a white butterfly and I used to see it every night with-'

His voice trailed off as he remembered Sooyoung. She didn't give him anymore letter after the bomb, is she's dead?

' Whom?'

' She's dead'

Sooyoung....I'll replace you for a little more

She's dead. The word echoed in his head whilst he felt his body shivering. I'm sorry

Soon after, a butterfly flew above him; the same white color from the past of 1987

Be careful

An ignored promise can become a curse
