56 - She Meets Her

Mara prefers to keep to herself her discomfort every time Adrian comes with Lia on her chemotherapy session. She chooses to wait on the completion of the five sessions.

But after the third session, there were instances that Lia calls Adrian. Her boyfriend often ignores the call. If not, Adrian just drops Lia's call. And times like those, Mara hopes that Lia's treatment will be completed.

"Second to the last chemotherapy session na ni Lia, you promised to meet her on her last session," Adrian said over the phone after their 'good mornings'.

"Next time na lang siguro, Sweetheart, kapag magaling na talaga sya," Mara uttered.

"She is fine now. She just needs to continue with her medication para gumaling na talaga sya," Adrian said. "Tell me, Sweetheart, bakit ayaw mo syang makilala?" Adrian could not help but ask Mara because he has been convincing his girlfriend to come with him during Lia's treatment so he could finally introduce to Lia the girl he is inlove with now.

"It is not that, I just think na hindi naman na kailangan. After her five sessions, tapos naman na dapat di ba?" Mara replied.

"But for me it is important. I want her to meet you," Adrian said. "Akala mo ba hindi ko napapansin how uncomfortable you are every time sumasama ako sa chemotherapy session ni Lia? And meeting her is the only way I know to remove that discomfort," he explained.

"Don't mind me, okay lang ako," Mara said.

"You are not okay, Sweetheart. At malapit na rin akong magtampo. Isn't it we agreed na pag-uusapan natin whatever discomfort we have in this relationship? You are behaving differently these past days and I don't like it," Adrian said.

"All right, since this is important for you, sige pupuntahan ko kayo sa hospital mamaya. Dadaan muna ako sa office to leave instructions to the junior engineers," Mara said. "Mamaya na lang ako susunod sa site pagkagaling ko dyan sa hospital," she added.

"Thank you, Sweetheart. I love you," Adrian said.

"I am doing this because I love you, too," Mara replied.

"Therefore, thank you for doing this for me, Sweetheart," Adrain uttered.

"What time ba ang schedule ng chemotherapy session nya today?" she asked.

"Ten in the morning, call me kung papunta ka na, I'll meet you at the hospital lobby," Adrian uttered and despite speaking over the phone, Mara felt Adrian's excitement.

"Okay, I'll see you later, Sweetheart," Mara uttered before they both hang up.

Mara is having a heavy heart on her meeting with Lia. She does not know who they will take each other as she does not believe that Lia is no longer in love with Adrian. Her calls and text messages to her boyfriend only warrants her interest to get Adrian back. But no way that she will make it happen. She will not give up on Adrian without giving it a fight, a fair fight.

A little before ten in the morning, Mara parked her car at the grocery store in front of the hospital. She did not arrive early because of excitement but because she chooses to pay her sick officemate a visit. She texted Adrian that she is already in the hospital and will visit her officemate first before she meets them.

It is fifteen minutes before ten in the morning, Mara receives a text message from Adrian, telling her that they already arrived in the hospital.

"Where are you, pupuntahan kita," Adrian asked on his text message.

"I'll just meet you at the lobby, Sweetheart." Mara replied to Adrian's message.

She immediately bid her goodbye to her sick friend and hurried to walk down the lobby when she someone very familiar with her sitting on the waiting chair at the hallway.
