(A/N: If you have no idea what anything means in the Kart section of the document, all you need to know is that engine sizes need to be from 50cc (cubic centimeters) to 200cc)NOTICE
As of 5-24-14 regulations set on karts, tracks, sport, and drivers have been modified and all previous versions are now outdated
Karts
In the event of a racing team that has just started out in the new season, they are supplied with the modified but standard 125cc shifter kart. Racing teams are also supplied with X amount of funding from the MKSI (Mushroom Kingdom Sport International), in order for them to acquire needed essentials. Each and every team is allowed to have almost to full control over what they do to their kart in terms of performance and cosmetics. For example, a kart's weight can be kept as light or as heavy as teams want, horsepower and torque can be as big as possible in terms of how much the kart's engine will allow, and karts can either have a custom body, or they can be removed so the pipe frame remains. In terms of a kart's engine they can either be supplied engines from the MKSI, they can be swapped out for motorcycle engines, or the engines can be made from scratch. Karts can use any form of a transmission, whether it's a sequential gearbox, or a paddle shifter. However, the engine size must be kept in the 50cc to 200cc range as it depends on the cup they have entered in, and karts are to be kept naturally aspirated.
Technological enhancements such as ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), power steering or traction control are not allowed to be used on a kart due to most of them being pointless in kart standards. Applying aerodynamics to a kart is also not allowed since it's also pointless. Due to track regulations however, karts are allowed to have hoverwheels and hang gliders that can be deployed when necessary.
Tracks
Race tracks are designed to be a challenge for the drivers, and doable in 2 to 3 minutes. Tracks can either have a hover section, the entire track is the hover section, or it's either optional or nonexistent. Each track will either take place on tarmac, snow, rock, or dirt depending on location. Depending on what kind of race it is, they will also be designed for circuit or sprint. Relating to having a challenge, obstacles like rolling boulders or giant clock hands are designed to momentarily stop a racer. Tracks will also have built in boost pads and short cuts to gain an advantage over other racers.
Competition and Sportsmanship
In each season, there are 48 races in 12 cups. The season is divided into 4 sections by cup, order of what cup drivers will be racing in will always be randomized. At the start of the season karts will start out with engine sizes up to 50cc. After the first 3 cups karts are then allowed to advance from 50cc to 100cc. Completing another fourth of the season then allows engines to be up to 150cc, where it will then be followed by a "mirrored section" where regular tracks are flipped around to be as the name suggests, mirrored. The final 3 cups of the season has karts up to 200cc, with it being the last leg of the race.
In each race, drivers are to use their own style of skill that mixes between battle royale and conventional kart motorsport. Question blocks can be picked up to acquire items to gain any form of advantages that range from banana peels to bob-ombs. Once a race is complete, racers are rewarded points that depend on what place they finished in. In the end of the season whoever has racked up the most points take the title of champion for that season.
Teams and Drivers
As teams that have started out, participants are to sign a "user agreement," which has them abide with the set regulations. The size of each team in members are allowed 5 to 10 members utilizing coaches, mechanics, engineers, and drivers. As of 5-10-08 whoever the driver is in terms of age, race, species, or if they're from another world does not matter. In order for drivers to qualify they only need to have a background of professional use of any automated vehicle, whether it's a Group A race car or a military grade spacecraft. If drivers do not have any form of experience, they are to be enrolled in Kart School. To pass Kart School drivers need a 75% or higher.
MKSI designed karting for anyone to participate in, depending on whether they want to participate to begin with. If even Bowser is allowed to enter, then everyone is allowed to enter.
