You zipped up the back of your dress, and stared at yourself in the mirror.
"Woah." Was the word that escaped your lips. It wasn't often you found yourself in fancy attire but the change was exciting. The dress you wore was black and went to the floor, it was low cut and daring. The bodice clung to your upper-body emphasising places you sometimes forgot you had. White lace in crosses went up from the waist, ending at the top. Your long skirt flowed as it went down, ending in a shimmery lace trim. it was all an endless black and you wore black heels.
Well, you wobbled around in black heels.
You were grateful for the seamstress witch who lived down the street who had this dress specially done for you. An old friend who owed you an old favour.
Light makeup, two sprays of perfume and you went to the downstairs of your house. It was a DWMA party ball, students only. One of the annual events they held each year to celebrate feats and announce any changes made to the school.
Ezra was at the table, eating. He had brushed his brown unkept hair so it was neat and wore a simple tux. He looked nice for a change instead of rag-tag and boyish.
When he finally looked at you with his emerald eyes, he shook his head disapprovingly, downing his glass of milk. "(Y/N). Cover your chest."
"You first." You giggled. Ezra put his hands on his chest and mock-gasped and you both laughed loudly.
Brandishing some wine from the top cabinet you poured two glasses and sat down with him, picking at the bowl of fruit in the middle of the table. You sipped tentatively.
"You look beautiful, (Y/N)." He assured, guzzling his glass down.
"So do you."
A grin tugged at his lip. "Are you trying to impress Kid?"
You blushed furiously. "Come on, we'll be late!" You sighed.
He now looked at you, amused by your reaction and shelving it to annoy you later. "I was right?"
Your cheeks flamed. "Shut up!"

The DWMA was already packed and lights shone out of the building into the dark sky. You gaped at the gothic bunting and heady music that spewed from the death speakers from inside.
Ezra had already gone in and was stalking the appetiser trays with Blackstar and Tsubaki, who they saw earlier, and seemed to be enjoying himself. As you looked up, you could see Maka and Soul on the balcony talking. You smiled and walked in, meeting a huge white room flooded with people in nice attire, you looked around and saw many people in pairs.
You rubbed your arm shyly, making small chat with your classmates you had seen around here and there. The atmosphere was so warm it was almost romantic- and you felt out of place looking at the students and teachers who meshed so well.
"Were we supposed to have a partner here?" You asked aloud, huffing.
"It would seem so, wouldn't it, (Y/N)?" You heard the familiar voice of your closest friend who attempted to ask you out.
Numerous times.
"K-Kid" You said as you turned around and was indeed facing the young reaper himself. He had a white billowing shirt that was tucked nicely into a black vest with buttons and a chain in the pocket connecting to his belt loop. His hair had grown a bit longer past his chin and was neatly combed. You noticed he was checking you out as well, and you blushed.
He cleared his throat. "You look beautiful, and indeed-"
"Symmetrical?" You cut him off and gave a short smile. He smiled back.
