Kid's face was still fresh in your mind and you lay awake, slightly amused of the thought of Kid liking you, but sad because you couldn't like him.
He was your closest friend, someone you could easily confide in, tell your secrets to, easy to trust. Your bond was special in a friendship type of way, you didn't want to change that due to a relationship that could end horribly. There was no denying he was stupidly handsome, so much so that you found yourself studying his face sometimes, interested in his reaper perfection. But you had to sink those thoughts, you had made your mind up.
Ezra, your weapon, had sensed something wrong with you when you had not finished your breakfast. You gave a simple shrug when he asked you if you were okay.
He set his bowl down. "Ya know you can tell me, right?" He said, pointing his spoon in your direction. You ignored him, staring down at your cereal.
You had met Ezra in your first year in training and found him the most annoying person you'd ever met. He was troublesome, teasing and had no social cues or regard for his surroundings. Somehow, your lack of wanting to fit in matched his attitude and you found yourself being an unlikely team that kicked serious ass. You also found yourself a protector, partner, and a true friend.
He was tall and gawky, but had solid set features. Dark green eyes, a long, shaggy mahogany haircut and usually sported a white button down underneath an earthy toned jacket with black baggy trousers.
Ezra sighed and stood up, "There is only one thing I can do,"
You looked up at him, your (E/C) eyes staring at him menacingly, he walked slowly out of the room. You nodded smugly. Chicken.
He then rushed back in and picked up your bra strap and stretched it, he let it go and it made a satisfying but painful "SNAP."
Your eye twitched in annoyance and you got up in your chair, "You annoying little shit!" You barked darkly before running into the living room - he was smart to hide.
Shuffling noises came from the closet and you got your special cane, opened the closet and lay witness to the terrified man balled up. You cracked the cane in your hand and smiled evily at him.

Ezra moaned about his sore crown as he drove you to school on his motorbike. You clung onto him as he winded down the twisted streets of Death City, pondering about your next interaction with Kid. You mentally thanked him for being chatty, it grounded you. Usually you tell your weapon everything but your feelings were undecided on this one.
Did you like Kid? Did you want to be with him? You shivered through your light coat and watched intently at the stray snowflakes falling from the blue sky.
Snowflakes.
"Snowflakes!" You squealed.
"Thank fuck we're almost there, snow is stupid to ride on." Ezra muttered.
It was your favourite time of year, and even better was the fluffy, white snow that blanketed the dark streets. People were more inclined to stay inside but with the darkness came cover for witches and monsters alike. Crime shot up during this time, and you knew you would be working over time for the next two months.
Ezra narrowed into the bike shack and you both hopped off. Just as you were about to part he pulled a small container from his bag with a clumsily made sandwich and a couple of snacks. You beamed at him- he had made you packed lunch!
"You looked tired yesterday and I had enough for another sandwich." He awkwardly scratched his head. You pinched his cheek fondly, thanking him before you went to your respective classes now feeling happy and ready for whatever would come.
Class was the usual, Professor Stein making creepy remarks, dissecting, crying animals, traumatized students, wheelie chairs... the usual. You sat next to Kid, as usual, but no eye contact was made. You heard him softly drumming his fingers on the table and you stared forward, averting your eyes from the boy. This crushed you- would it be like this from now on with you two?
The bell rang and you got up, making your way into the cafeteria. You sighed, looking at the board that told you what they were serving. "Yuck! They're serving ( input food you hate)." Not that you minded, you had lunch now and Death Bucks was a usual place for you to eat and drink coffee.
You waved goodbye to a couple friends you'd walked in the cafeteria with and made your way out of school.

Kid had watched you and devised a plan; he was definitely going to win you today. Death bucks was usually where you two would eat alone and mull over the day- it wouldn't be surprising at all if he was there also. Granted the previous lesson hadn't gone too well, maybe your routine could pick up there.
He followed you down the street and through alleyway, he chuckled lightly as you looked up at the sky, catching a snowflake and giggling. After you went into the small cafe, he hung around for a minute, trying to act as if he came later.
Kid opened the door, scanning his eyes over the seats, until he found yours. You were sitting alone, sipping on a coffee and looking down. The young reaper sat next to you and ordered a cappuccino. You looked up at him, your (H/C) falling from the side of your face, "Hey, Kid." You greeted.
Kid knew you were nervous, as when you were nervous, you would duck your head shyly and a piece of hair would fall from the side of your face. It was a cute quirk.
"Hey, (Y/N)." The male replied, he payed for both of your drinks and he continued speaking, "You seem on edge, are you okay?" He asked, staring at you. You shook your head, smiling slightly, "Yeah, Kid. I'm fine. I'm just thinking about-"
"Last night?"

You nodded in reply, looking down once more, drifting your gaze from him. You silently prayed, hoping he wouldn't talk about it, that would make this scene even more awkward. Silence had settled before Kid spoke up, "Why wont you go out with me?It'll be fine, we can still be close fr-"
"No, Kid." You replied firmly, your fiddled with your thumbs under the table and bit your lip. You wanted a hole to come up and swallow you.
"We can make it work, don't you see I care for you, (Y/N)?" He stood up and you winced. This was going so badly.
The few people in the cafe started staring, and you stood up as well, about to take your leave. "Me too, that's why I don't want to do this with you! Fight! This is what would happen if we did date. We're too much alike. We've got a lot of stuff on our plate."
He clasped your hand, quieting down. "Let's get through it all together." You stared at him dumbfounded, the tenderness in his voice made you feel lightheaded.
You left through the door and he followed.
Silence settled as you both stared at each other, ruddy cheeked and bashful.
"(Y/N), I love you." He said, plain and firm.
You looked at him and sighed, "I love you too, Kid. But just as a friend." You walked away, balling your fists, trudging through the alleyway back to school.

Kid watched you leave, refusing to accept what had just happened. You had rejected him again. But he wasn't going to give up that easily.
