I saw the sun start to rise,
Emerging from far beyond the pool of mystery,
And wondered how they could reflect
The warmth and comfort it gave out -
But here I am. Stuck.
Beneath the shore of life
In a cage like I am nothing,
Trying to glide up to feel its rays
Trying to glide up to see the waves.
But I am slowly drowning;
The heavy cage dragging me further into
The depths of prickling, dangerous despair.
How am I not suffocating?
But not breathing at the same time?
The key to freedom might be out of sight
But we must fight until it's bright.
