"Nolan, come on."
"No. It's not happening."
"Nolan, seriously, you're bleeding."
"What if she wrecks?"
"Hey! I'm a good driver."
"Stop holding the keys over your head. What are you, four?"
"Nobody drives Sadie but me!"
I place my hands on my hips looking at the sight in front of me. Nolan has his arm outstretched up, his hand holding the keys, and Skylar is trying to jump for them.
I roll my eyes, turning and walking into the school. I head to the nurses station, but all I can find there is an ice pack and some gauze. I walk back outside where Skylar and Nolan are still arguing, not even noticing that I left.
Nolan still has the keys raised above his head, and Skylar is still jumping for them. I roll my eyes, walking behind Nolan and using my vertical to snatch the keys from his hand while he's distracted.
"Hey!" he yells, whipping around to look at me. I toss the keys to Skylar who catches them with a satisfied smile, and gets in the front seat.
I look back at Nolan who is pouting. "Get in the backseat," I say, and he raises an eyebrow, a smirk creeping on his face.
"Wow, so forward," he says, opening the door for me to get in.
I give him a dead look. "I'm not even going to acknowledge that," I say, climbing into the car, and hearing Nolan cackling as he climbs in after me and shuts the door.
"Alright, fix my face," Nolan says, turning to me as Skylar starts to drive.
"I can stop the bleeding, but I'm afraid fixing your face is a job for plastic surgeons," I say, smirking, as Skylar laughs.
Nolan puts on a fake hurt look, and I laugh.
"That was for the backseat joke," I say, smiling, as I place the ice pack to the bruise on his chin and he winces slightly.
He actually has a very cute face.

The rest of the car ride is filled with Skylar changing the radio station fifty million times, and me trying to make Nolan's face not look so bad. I get the cut by his eyebrow to stop bleeding, and I'm pretty sure the place on his chin isn't swelling anymore.
We get to the gym, and walk inside the lobby where Jacob is pacing.
"Where have y'all been?" Jacob almost yells, jogging over to us. "What the hell happened to you?"
"Maddi gets angry when she's hungry," Nolan says without missing a beat, and I playfully nudge his shoulder.
Jacob doesn't find his joke funny though. "Dude Coach is pissed. We gotta go," Jacob says, leading us into the gymnasium.
Jacob takes off jogging towards what I assume is a locker room, and Nolan starts to follow but he looks back at me and Skylar, hesitating. I give him a curious look, as his eyes start searching the room, and finally land on what they were looking for.
"Sarah!" Nolan calls, and waives whoever Sarah is over to us. I look back at the girl walking towards me and my only thoughts are Wow. She's literally so flawless, it's intimidating. She has perfect tan skin, with big brown eyes, and wavy brown hair that falls past her shoulders.
I can't help the insecurity that flows through me, as she approaches and stands next to me.
"Hey No, whatcha need?" she asks in a voice so smooth that I honestly want to just leave.
"Guys, this is Sarah," he introduces.
"Hi," she says, a huge smile on her face. We offer smiles back.
Oh great, she's nice too. You can't be pretty and nice, that's not fair.
"They don't really know anybody here. Is it alright if they sit with you?" Nolan asks Sarah.
"Of course," she chirps, looking at us with yet another smile.
Stupid perfect smile with her stupid perfect teeth.
"Thanks," Nolan says to her, then gives me a half smile before following after Jacob.
"I'll show you guys where I'm sitting," she says, smiling and walking towards the bleachers.
"Is it just me or do you feel like the principle from Matilda standing next to her?" Skylar whispers in my ear, and I have to hold back my laughter. "But seriously, she's perfect," Skylar clarifies, and I nod.
I know I shouldn't but I can't help but let insecurity creep into my mind. She would look so much better with Nolan than I ever would.
We stop at an open section in the bleachers, only filled by a couple probably in their forties. Sarah sits down on the row in front of them and we follow suit.
"Sarah, who's this?" the woman from behind us asks her, gesturing towards Skylar and I.
"These are some of Nolan's friends. He asked if they could sit with us," Sarah says, turning her body towards Skylar and I.
"Well of course they can," the woman smiles and then holds out her hand to me. "My name's Sheila Garter, and this is my husband, Mike."
I shake her hand, offering a smile. "Hi, I'm Maddi."
"Skylar," Skylar says, also shaking her hand.
"Oh, you're Maddi," Sarah says, a surprised and amused look slowly working its way onto her facial features.
"Yeah?" I say, a little harsher than I meant to.
"Why?" Skylar asks, leaning in next to me.
"I've just heard a lot about you," Sarah says, and we both give her curious looks. "All good things though," she smiles.
"But how have you heard about her?" Skylar asks for me.
"My boyfriend and Nolan have been friends since they were kids. That's actually how I know Nolan. But, Nolan talks to Luke about a lot, and then sometimes Luke tells me," She explains, but she still hasn't said how she knows who I was.
"So..." I trail off, hoping she continues.
"So, I'm not really sure how much I should say, but let's just say, he talks a lot about you," She says, smiling at me again.
