Nico climbed up on his bunk and stretched out over the edge, trying to reach the top shelf on the other side of the room. His fingertips didn't even brush the edge.
"You'll never make it." Will started replacing his bowstring. He was sitting on the bottom bunk, his quiver laying next to him and his bow in his hand.
"Yes I will!" Nico reached out a little further.
"You'll knock the bed over." Will glanced up at the son of Hades.
"No I won't!" Nico reached a little further.
"Will you just let me get it?" Will set his bow aside.
"Don't insult the vertically challenged!" Nico tried to reach farther, but he couldn't.
Will sat and watched Nico for several more minutes.
Nico finally sat back. "Fine, help me."
Will smiled and stood up, reaching easily to the shelf and tossing Nico the box of pencils he had been trying to get to for a half hour.
"Thanks," Nico grumbled, dropping it in his backpack.
Will smiled and sat down again, glancing at his watch. "We should get to dinner."
Nico dropped a piece of paper down to Will. "Give me a doctor's note first."
Will laughed, quickly scrawling a few words on the paper, then folded it up and handed it back to Nico.
Nico smirked as he read the note, then re-folded it and tucked it in his pocket. "Chiron will kill you for that."
Will mirrored Nico's smirk. "Well, too bad for Chiron."
Nico jumped down from his bunk and headed for the door, grabbing Will's hand and pulling him along.
Will followed Nico to the dining pavilion and winked at his cabin, sliding onto a bench next to Nico.
"What the heck are you guys doing?" Jason asked, leaning against their table.
Nico started laughing. He handed the note to Jason.
Jason unfolded the paper and read it in a whisper.
"Nico needs his doctor to sit next to him so he'll actually eat something."
Jason shrugged. "That's fair. Can I have a doctor's note for Piper to sit with me?"
"No." Nico kicked Jason's shin. "Go away."
Jason laughed and sat down at his own table.
Nico and Will had been officially dating for nearly six months, and most of the campers still wouldn't leave them alone. It annoyed Nico a lot. But it also made him happy.
That evening, Will and Nico were sitting together on the edge of the lake, watching the nyads at the bottom. Nico was leaning on Will's shoulder, and Will was playing with Nico's hair. Nico slipped his hand into Will's.
"School starts tomorrow."
"I know." Will brushed Nico's hair behind his shoulders. "You want me to come drive by at the end of the day?"
"How about my creepy zombie chauffeur picks you up?" Nico smirked. "Everyone will respect you from day one."
Will snorted. "Everyone respects me automatically. I'm just that cool."
Nico shook his head. "No you're not. You're the son of the sun. The sun is anything but cool. It's seriously hot."
Will raised his eyebrows. "You just called me hot."
