CHAPTER ELEVEN:
bloodlinesSamuel wasn't surprised when he was arrested, the handcuffs dug into his wrists as he was pushed into the back of the police car. His moment with the mayor didn't end well, the man held a broken nose.
Of course if Samuel could go back, he would've broken far more than the man's nose. He could feel the stares as he looked outside the window. He wasn't ashamed of what he did, he would always protect his family. He saw the look of disappointment on Elena's face as he sighed deeply to himself.
This wasn't his first time being pushed into the back of a police car. He didn't have a nice track record around mystic falls, so it wasn't surprising.
Every often his father would pick him up from the station, give a long pep talk about self respect and reputation. Of course Samuel always ignored the man's words, he would just cause more trouble.
Causing trouble meant he got his parent's attention, even if it was held for a single second. Seeing his mothers lips twitch in annoyance, his fathers foot tapped on the wooden floor in disappointment.
It was a rhyme he would tune every chance he could, then it faded away as time passed. He got older and his parents stopped caring, stopped helping him. He would spend nights behind bars, his head aching as he would count the hours he was trapped.
Then they died, of course he didn't mourn them, why should he? They didn't care about him. He traveled and he ignored all the calls he got from his family. He just kept moving until he felt numb all over again.
He didn't open any letters he got in the mail, so many he sent back. Just for even an ounce of attention from her. All he got in return was nothing, so he stopped.
Samuel let out a soft breath as he leaned into the cold wall of the jail cell. The same one he was always trapped inside of. The walls were old and on the verge of crumbling, each indented with marks.
Hours, minutes, seconds. He had forgotten how much he hated this cell, the cheap smell of cologne. The dirt that coated the floor as he moved his boots along it.
He bit into his lip, anticipation running along his body as he waited. He could hear the faint sound of the rhyme, and feel the warmth of his parents. See the looks of shame they would give him as he smiled.
He didn't feel ashamed, not this time. His parents couldn't disown him anymore, they were six feet under ground. Likely rolling over in disappointment.
He heard the creak of the door opening, felt the atmosphere around him shifting into new territory. He stood up ignoring the sting on his wrists from the handcuffs. "The sheriff called, said you were here".
He smirked as he leaned into the wall, "so you do care then, or was Elena busy ignoring you?". The woman let out a heavy breath as the cell door was unlocked by a deputy. She pushed her purse over her shoulder as Samuel walked outside.
He let his hands go forward, feeling the weight of the handcuffs slowly come off. He hummed slightly as he shook his head "I get it, you're gonna ignore me. That's very mature Jenna, seriously Miranda's rolling in her grave''. He ignored the deputy beside him as he walked out of the cell fully.
Jenna looked annoyed even more as he walked towards the door with her. Her hands grasping onto her purse and car keys, she was ignoring him.
