Jotaro x Mermaid!Reader AU
Dr. Jotaro Kujo watched the seconds quickly tick by on his watch. It was well beyond the time his counterparts were supposed to arrive and he was beginning to grow irritable. His work was important, he thought. They could at least have the decency to show up on time. He huffed, looking to the dazzling blue water, taking in its beauty. He was on the coast of a remote town in the Mediterranean, studying the exotic ocean life for his next thesis. The ocean was where he felt most at home. He was fascinated by the creatures he saw and the life that could be discovered. He checked his watch again and sighed. He would just have to start alone. He didn't mind. He preferred to be alone. Just him, the ocean, and its inhabitants. It was calming. Plus the ocean never asked stupid questions or pried into his personal life like people did. He carried his metal tool case beside him as he began his stroll along the beach.
You peeked your eyes out of the water, careful not to let anyone see you. If your parents found out you'd gone to the surface, you would never hear the end of it. Each night for as long as you could remember it was one cautionary tale after the other. 'Retched humans', your parents would spit. 'They'll hunt you; cut your tail up and sell it for parts so they can get rich', they'd spew. As a child, you believed them, paralyzed with the fear of the humans might do to you, but as you grew older you couldn't stifle the voice inside you, calling you to the surface. So you while they were away you snuck out and swam to the surface.
There was a large rock jutting out of the water, that you hid your torso and your tail behind it as you popped your head out from behind it. The waves were beginning to pick up momentum, so you steadied your hands against the stone. There was a man on the beach looking quite distraught as he glanced at his wrist. His striking green eyes caught your attention as you gawked. He had a strong jaw and jet black hair, tucked under a white hat. A long white coat covered his muscular build.
Your lips parted in awe. Did all humans look like that? You wondered as you craned your neck to get a better look, not expecting him to look your way as you did. If you hadn't managed to duck behind the rock in time, his gaze would have hit you head-on. You let out a deep sigh of relief. The last thing you needed right now was to get caught by a human. You swam to the other side of the rock and peeked your head out again. The man was unknowingly walking in your direction so you decided to swim further out to avoid his gaze, but before you could, a wave bigger than the others grew until it loomed over your head. Before you react or even think about retreating to the depths, the wave crashed into you sending straight into the jagged rock. The rough edges dug into your skin and the scales of your fin. The pain was blinding as the rock cut you deeper. You tried to swim but the gash in your tail was too severe. Panic arose in your chest. You couldn't move, you couldn't swim. How would you get back?
You looked up as another shadow formed over you. There was a second wave coming. And as it hit you the last thing you remembered was the thump of your head against the rock before your vision turned black.

Jotaro had been observing a tide pool when he saw the figure wash to the shore. He stopped, tucking his notes back into his bag before he stood to get a closer look. From his angle, all he could see was the tail of what had to have been an enormous fish. It's midnight blue scales reflected the sun into his eyes. He moved slowly and cautiously towards the being. And when he was close enough he saw your face. Wet hair clung to your beautiful features; eyes shut, full lips slightly parted. His mouth fell open. He'd seen lots of bizarre things in his lifetime but never something like this. What was it? Was this some sort of stand ability? He looked around carefully, summoning star platinum just incase, but Star retreated when Jotaro noticed the blood seeping from your wounds. You were badly injured and seemingly unconscious. He crouched down, bringing his fingers to your neck to feel for a pulse. It was there but it was weak, and your skin was cold beneath his touch.
