~Chapter Two~The Past(2)

___The Same Day (Oct 11)___

After that promise I made with Ochaco, I went back downstairs to have lunch and I invited Ochaco to eat together. I sat down on the table with Ochaco following beside me.

"Honey, time for lunch!"

"Mum, I'm already here."

"No, I meant your dad..."

"Oh...wait he's usually early for lunch. Mum, I'll go check his room."

I went upstairs to his room to bring him for lunch, but what was waiting there wasn't what I expected.

"Dad?"

My eyes widened as I saw his pale face with a smile that never faded as he laid unconcious on the ground. Except this time, his smile was lifeless. Unlike the times when his smile really stood out from enthusiasm, the very lively smile of his that really inspired me to smile more. This time, his smile looked empty. I rushed up towards his unconcious body, holding out an arm to his face, my arms shivered, the man who loved and cared for me...is no longer alive. Tears crawled out my eyes as I touched his hands, they were cold, numb, pale, and lifeless. This is the one time, that I have stopped smiling, the one time when my tears fell out of my eyes without a smile accompanying them. Salty tears continued to wiggle out as I felt something on the hand I was touching.

'A necklace?'

I held it up as a shape of a star was dangling down the chains of the necklace. I saw a button on the back of it, i pressed it. It clicked and opened, only for a soft song to play, the song he always sang to me when I was little! I was swaying my head side to side without noticing. I then looked back at the star shaped accesory only to see a picture of him, mum, and me. I looked to the side and saw folded paper being supported by a thin layer of metal, I opened it to see a message.

'Dear (Y/N),
My child, you have always been the light of my life. Your mother has suffered 4 miscarriages and you were the only light that came to life. (Y/N), as a birthday present, I wanted to give you this necklace, as a memory. The star represents how bright you are to me, and since you have always loved stars, I thought it was the perfect option. Whenever you are through tough times, open this necklace, it will make you feel a kind of warmth, the warmth that resembles the love of a family. I hid your other presents at the bottom of your bed, hope you like them!

I have read the entire letter, only to find tears crawling back out again.

'Tomorrow's my birthday too...'

I suddenly saw a shadow, the figure of a man. He walked out to me from the bathroom door, with a face that looks like he was thirsty for blood. His only weapon were a knife. Trying to keep my distance away from him, I used my light and blasted at him, he dodged and continued to walk towards me. I couldn't do anything, I sat there, frozen into place as I couldn't react. He soon reached towards me and held my chin up to make me stare into his eyes. He then jumped out the window like nothing ever happened. My emotions were a mixture of anger and sadness.  A villain had killed him...

I went to back downstairs with my head hung low, I needed to tell mum. I looked to mum and Ochaco and was greeted with two shocked and surprised faces. They were shocked at the fact that I was crying, but mostly because I wasn't smiling. They both rushed towards me and asked what had happened. I answered simply since I didn't want to think much of it.

"Dad is gone..."

My mum's and Ochaco's eyes widened.
