I pack the last picture I'm going to be taking with me, looking around at my now almost empty room. I roll my eyes and set my suite case down next to my bed as my mom walks into my room.

"Hey baby"

"Hi ma" I say scrolling through my phone, not looking up, she doesn't need to know I'm high.

"It's your last day, before you leave for college, we should do something"

"We've done everything there is to do in this town" I say still not looking up.

"Did you say goodbye to your friends? Maximo, Kairi, Lily, Alejandro, uh Mattia?"

"What about Mattia!? Me and him broke up a year ago, he's gone, I had to say goodbye to him after I hurt him, I can't say goodbye to Mattia" I say finally looking up.

"You love him"

"WE'RE DONE MOM, me and him have been done, for a year, he's moved on, and, and so have I"

"Is that why you get high everyday, to remember him? I think it's the opposite"

"Im not arguing with you right now mom"

"You should at least say goodbye to your friends, they're going to miss you, UCLA is pretty far away"

"Not fat enough" I say under my breath, wiping away the few tears that shed during me and my moms little argument. But she's right, I've gotta say goodbye to my friends, the ones I have left anyway. So I call Kairi.

"Hey Katie"

"Can I come over, my mom convinced me I had to say goodbye to all my friends since I'm leaving for college tomorrow"

"I'm, I have a few people over right now, hows later?"

"Kairi, I know most of your friends, I don't mind seeing them while I'm there"

"It's just-"

"Mattia, he's there isn't he?"

"Yeah"

"Whatever, call me when he leaves, Kay?"

"Alright love you dude"

I just hang up, calling Maximo.

"Sup Lynn"

"I told you no one calls me that anymore" I say frowning at the nickname, mattias the only one who called me that.

"Oh shit I'm sorry, but fr, what's up"

"Wanna hang out, I'm leaving for college tomorrow, kinda wanted to I guess say goodbye

"I'll be over in ten"

"See you then" I say before hanging up and laying in my bed and staring at the ceiling, I'm gonna miss it here, but I need to get out.

"Sweetie, Max is here" my mom says before walking away and Max walks in.

"Hey Katie" he says laying next to me.

"I'm gonna miss it here" I say turning to look at him. "But i don't know, there's really nothing keeping me here anymore yknow"

"I get it, I'm not going to college, but I understand what you're saying"

"I'll miss you Max, thanks for being my friend, yknow when everyone hated me"

"I'm always here for you" he says hugging me, the hug gets cut off by my phone ringing.

"Hey Kai" I say answering the FaceTime.

"He's gone, you can come over now"

I just nod and hang up.

"Wanna go to Kairis with me?"

"Nah, my girlfriends waiting for me, she's leaving tomorrow for Stanford" I nod and hug him quickly before putting on shoes, grabbing a blunt, and my phone before Driving to kairis house.

I knock on the door and Kairi answers it.

"Hey" he says hugging me.

"Don't make this super emotional, I'll see you again, just wanted to see y'all before I leave tomorrow, is Lily here?"

"Yeah she's upstairs with ale, but I'd be careful, those fools are nasty, he was fingering her while I was up there earlier" I laugh and nod, walking upstairs, Kairi behind me.

"Katieeeee" I hear lily scream before hugging me.

"Im gonna miss you girl" I say hugging her tighter.

"I know, but I'll see you when you come home for holidays, and we can FaceTime all the time" she says pulling away. I nod.

"Are you high" Alejandro laughs hugging me.

"When's the last time you've seen me not high?"

"That's a good question" he laughs pulling away.

There's a knock downstairs. Kairis in the bathroom. "I'll get it" I say wiping away a tear, I'm gonna miss these guys.

I run down the stairs and open the door. I look down quickly once I see him. "Hey" I say almost inaudible. I look back up and Mattia starts talking.

"I just forgot my hoodie upstairs, uhm I'll come back another time" he says about to leave

"It's fine, I was just leaving anyway" I lie walking outside and sitting in my car, lighting my blunt. After smoking the whole thing I see Mattia wall out of the house as I roll my window down, letting all the smoke out.

I hear my passenger door open and close. "What're you doing" I say my voice low and a little mumbly.

"What are YOU doing" Mattia asks looking at me.

"Oh, this, this is normal for me now" I respond putting my key in the ignition and starting the car.

"You aren't driving home like this Lynn" I hear him say, the nickname making my heart beat drop, I miss him.

"Mattia, I have to go finish packing, I'm driving home like this" I respond .

"I can't let you do that" he says

"And why not? I broke your heart, why do you care"

"Because you still mean a lot to me" he responds.

"Why?" I say my voice breaking, my high still very prominent

"Because I'll always love you, no matter how hard I try, no matter how much I hate you for fucking me up, and since when did you start smoking?"

"Since I have to stay high to keep you off my mind"

"Go upstairs Lynn, stay here until your high fades away, go home, finish packing, and leave for college safe, okay?"

I just nod, turning off my car. And getting out.

"I missed you a lot this year, good luck, yknow with life, I'll see you around if we're lucky" I say walking upstairs to kairis room.
