I put the last box in the back of the uber and turn around to see my mom. A test rolls down my face.

"I'm gonna miss you mom" I say hugging her tightly.

"I'll miss you more baby, but I'll see you when you go on break, and I'll be right here waiting for you" she says pulling away and kisses my cheek.

I turn and see my friends standing there, Kairi, Lily, Alejandro, and Maximo. I was hoping Mattia would be here, we aren't on good terms, but I'm gonna miss him so fucking much. Kairi told me he left earlier this morning to leave for whatever college he's going to. I take a deep breath and walk over to them. Pulling them into a group hug.

"I'm gonna miss you guys" I say crying.

"We'll see each other sooner than you know" Lily says patting my back. We pull away from the hug and I smile at everyone. Without another word I step into my Uber, and wave goodbye to them.

We pull up at the airport and my Uber driver was nice enough to help me get all my baggage inside and put where it needed to go. Next thing I know, I'm on a plane flying to California.

I slept through the flight and when I landed grabbed all of my things and took them out to an Uber my mom got for me. Next thing I knew, I was decorating my dorm waiting to see who my roommate was. I lay in my bed after putting away my things when I get a FaceTime from lily.

"Hii" I smile waving at her.

"Soooo, have you met your roommate, is she nice, ooo is it a he, that can happen sometimes, is he hot" I just laugh at all the questions.

"No lily, I haven't met my roommate, they did leave a box on they're bed but they haven't been in here since I have so we just wait"

"Well, I just wanted to see that you made it to your dorm safely, I've gotta go me and Ale are going out tonight but call me when you meet your roommate, I wanna know everything about them" she say

"I will, have fun on your date with Ale" I say smiling before hanging up and laying down to take another nap.

I get woken up by the sound of the door slamming open, i look over and see a tall girl and an even taller guy making out on the door. I fake cough to get their attention.

The girls head shoot over to me and all I can see is the guys back and her head on his shoulder.

"You didn't tell me your roommate was here" she says slapping his chest and jumping down from his arms.

"I didn't know" he says in a voice way too familiar.

"I'm Lauren, this is Mattia, my boyfriend" she says shaking my hand. "We're from New Jersey" she ads

"I know him, and you" I say as Mattia turns on the light.

"Ohhh, you're Katie" she says turning to look at Mattia "you're roommates with your ex and you didn't think that was something you should tell me?" She says throwing her arms in the air.

"I didn't know, this is the first time I've seen her here, I didn't even know this was the college she was going to" he says, not breaking eye contact with me.

"I'm going to my dorm, call me later" she says to Mattia, waving goodbye to me.

"So you're going to UCLA" Mattia says after the door closes.

"Sure am" I say grabbing my phone, finally breaking eye contact with him. "Imma go smoke this, wanna join me?" I say showing him the blunt I had in my backpack.

"You've changed yknow"

"Oh yeah?"

"You're not the same person I fell in love with" he says looking at me.

"Well, I fucked shit up with you, now I get fucked up on a daily basis, keeps me from hating myself for what I did to you, you've got yourself a new girl?"

"We aren't exactly dating, she's attached though, it's been a year since we've really had a conversation, let's go get high Lynn, and keep this non-talking thing going until we can't anymore, deal?"

"Sounds good to me"
