On 26th February 2000, my dad was waiting outside the hospital room walking across the corners of the waiting area. My mum was in the operation theatre undergoing labour. My grandparents, uncles and aunts were all waiting for my arrival.

At around 6.30pm in the evening, a baby's cry was heard from the OT. After few minutes, a little soul was handed to my dad, who was crying tears of joy. Yes, it was me. Holding me lovingly, he looked at me and introduced me to the family. All were so glad to see me.

"My little angel has arrived." Exclaimed my dad.

"What are we going to call her?" Asked one of my aunts.

"We will name her Taisha." Said my dad.

"And I will call her Tai." My uncle said cheerfully.

Soon after I was handed to my mother, who could believe she gave birth to a tiny being. She kissed my little face, my hands, my legs unable to accept the fact.
While I was resting in her lap, the nurse and the doctor came in to check up on both of us. After checking me thoroughly, the doctor informed about me as being a  healthy baby.

It has been a week I came in this world. Numerous people came to see me and my mum and poured their blessings upon us. Some ceremonies and prayers were performed to celebrate my birth. Too much for a tiny baby. Huh.

With new life, came new learnings and adventure. With first smile, first crying, those first steps or words, I was growing. I was growing from a baby to a toddler, from a toddler to a child.

Finally the day came when I was three and a half years old and was about to go to my school the next day. Dad brought me new uniform, bag, pencil box, crayon set and what not. Not only me but everyone else in the house was awaiting for the big day.

Next morning I woke up and mum made me ready for school. I was looking cute in the uniform with bag on my back. With breakfast in my hand, I waved goodbye to grandpa and grandma and headed off to school. On reaching there, I was astounded to see the huge building and kids running in uniforms. Mom and dad came to drop me to my class.

We three were waiting outside the classroom when a lady approached us. She had a bright smile on her face and greeted us. She introduced herself as Ms. Arunima, my class teacher. She took me inside the class leaving behind mom and dad with a pride on their faces.

Upon entering I saw children my age standing up and wishing good morning to the teacher. She took me to a seat and helped me settle.

"Ella please make some space for your new friend." The teacher told the girl sitting on the same bench.

"Hi I am Taisha," I introduced myself to Ella.

"Hi Taisha, my name is Ella. Nice to meet you." Ella replied.

While we just started talking, the teacher starting speaking; breaking our conversation in between. She taught us alphabets and numbers. Ms. Arunima was telling us a story when the bell rang, signalling for the lunch break.

I and Ella took out our lunch from our bags. Few other kids gathered around our desk to share food. Those 30 minutes lunch break was not less than a small picnic for us.

We finished our lunch and the teacher continued her story session. After the story was over, the kids around me started shouting cheerfully. I got confused and looked at Ella in doubt who was also busy hooting with the crowd.

"What's happening." I asked her.

"It's time for our games period." Ella responded.
