The next day, I woke up with the excitement of going shopping today. But it didn't last longer as I remembered the incidents of last night. I didn't know what to do.
Am I doing the right thing? Should I buy that stuff? Why is everyone asking me not to go ahead with my decision. I was thinking all this when my mom snapped, "Taisha, let's go".
With confused emotions I sat on the car seat only to do the daily ritual, getting lost in thoughts while peeking outside the window. I was so lost in my own world that I didn't realise my parents were calling my name for a lot many times.
"What kind of football do you want to buy?" My dad questioned.
"Ummm, let me think. I want a small, little soft, cartoons printed and ya of pink colour." I replied.
My parents laughed at my description of the ball.
Too many demands for a single ball Taisha. And what kind of cricket bat and ball do you want? My mom continued.
I wanted the one like the elder boys were playing with but I knew that it would be too large for me. So I replied saying, " Like the one I played with in school, small, light and of plastic."
"Good choice Taisha." My parents smiled.
We three were so engrossed in conversation that we didn't realise that 45 minutes drive was over and the destination was in front of us.
'The Sports Planet', the board on the shop read. It was a huge shop with a glass door. Looking at the door, I could see hundreds of toys for all age groups. We entered the shop and my jaw dropped. The shop was bigger than my imagination and contained thousands or may be more sports gears.
"Good morning sir. Good morning ma'am." A salesman stood in front of us greeting. "What would you have sir". He continued.
"A football for my little daughter." My father answered.
The salesman looked at me for a minute and smiled. He took us to a section which was filled with footballs of various sizes and colours.
I saw one of the cupboard filled with brown colour balls similar to what I have seen other boys play. Looking forward I went to a cupboard which looked colourful. It had balls with pictures printed on them. I looked keenly at each one of them.
My eyes got fixed on a blue colour football that has Barbie dolls on it. Perfect, for me.
"I want this." I said excited.
"Good choice." Remarked the salesman.
After that we headed to get a cricket kit. There too I saw various bats, big and small; heavy and light. I wanted to buy them all but obviously that was not possible. I searched for the one that was perfect for me. The salesman standing beside me, helped me find out the bat suitable for my size. I got a red plastic bat and a yellow ball with it.
Taking the things to the billing counter, I held them tightly in my small hands. They are soon going to be mine- I thought.
The person on the counter made the bill and dad paid the amount. The package was handed to me. Holding it, I thought myself to be on cloud nine. I was the happiest girl on the planet at that time.
