As soon as we reached the play room, all I could see were toys scattered here and there. Ella asked me to come along with her to a beautiful castle. The castle was similar to the one shown in Disney Princess stories. I could imagine myself as one of those princesses. Few other girls joined us with Barbie dolls in their hands.
We all were busy playing when I saw few boys playing with the bat and a ball. I have seen elder boys playing this rough game in my locality. They have big bats and hard balls. But the one these boys were playing with was of plastic and cute to watch.
Suddenly I felt the urge to play with the ball and I stood up to do the same. I approached them and said, "Hi, I am Taisha. Can we be friends."
"Hi, I am Yudit." One of the boys introduced himself. "And he is Jiaan, Samarth and Vidhut." He continued.
"Nice to meet you all. If you don't mind can I play with you." I asked shyly.
All of them started staring at each other and Samarth responded, "Why don't you play with the dolls, you might get hurt here."
"No, I don't want to play with those dolls and I am not a cry baby to weep over small injuries." I said.
All of them giggled over my remark and Yudit asked me to join.
"I will use the ball first." I said gleefully.
"Here, take it." Jiaan offered.
Vidhut was holding the bat, waiting for me to bowl. On the other end I was admiring the ball in my hand before throwing it.
I bowled on his bat and he hit the ball changing its course. I saw the ball rolling on the floor and was awestruck. I could not explain the fascination I felt for the ball at that moment. The boys looked at me with confused expressions.
"Haven't you seen a ball before?" Yudit questioned.
"Ofcourse I have, but I haven't bowled one." I replied.
They couldn't understand why I was so happy. To be honest, neither could I. Infact I was so engrossed all this while that I forgot the Ella was witnessing all this. She was waiting for me to come back, so that their princess set gets complete. I rushed back to her and straight away went inside the castle.
Is a princess allowed to play cricket? I thought.
While I was lost in my thoughts, girls around me were discussing their favourite Disney Princess.
"What about you Taisha? Which princess do you adore the most?" Kashvi asked.
"I don't know. I don't have one in particular." I replied.
Our games period was over and everyone rushed back to the class. Miss Arunima continued with numbers and alphabets.
Soon the bell rang signalling the end of the day. I picked my belongings and went towards the exit. I found my parents standing there, eagerly waiting for my arrival.
"How was your day, my darling?" Mum asked.
"It was very good." I shouted happily when I saw Ella passing by.
"Hi Ella come here. She is Ella, my bench mate and my friend." I said introducing her to my parents.
"Hello Ella. It was good meeting you." Dad greeted her with a smile.
On my way back home I was lost in my thoughts, thoughts about the day, especially the games period.
On reaching home, I got out of the car and went running to meet my grandparents. They were so delighted to see me after a whole long day. It was the first time I went to school and they were ready with delicious food to celebrate this achievement. The dining table was filled with all my favourite dishes making it difficult to choose. So I decided to have everything on my plate.
I was so excited to tell everyone everything about the day that I kept speaking even while eating. After the lunch was over I went to have some rest.
A/N: So here's my second chapter. Was it worth the wait? Please let me know in the comments.
Lots of love.
