24. Stairway to...Heaven?

The days went by relatively uneventful in both dimensions. I was amazed there was no new drama besides you know...everything else. I tried not to remember my horrendous escape from my mother or the fact that Peter had gone incognito. But I attempted to remain positive for the sake of myself and everyone around me.

Jenna had begun to drag me through the city but advised me to watch my back since there was a high crime rate. She also had Steven along with us, as I mentioned to be the "weed-smoking cousin." He was a nice guy, and I could tell him and Jenna clicked.

"I'm glad we visited this place before it got any colder. Look at all of these flowers!" Jenna exclaimed as she took her phone out and took pictures of the colorful roses and other assortments. One of her destinations was the Allentown rose gardens. I, not necessarily paying much attention to anything, agreed to it. I wasn't one for being gooey over flowers, but I'd go anywhere with Jenna if it meant I could see her smile. And speaking of gooey...

You know how I said Jenna and Steven clicked really well? Well, they were beyond clicking. I mean, don't take that out of context, but they were all over each other. I would look at some of the roses, sniffing them lightly and shrugging. As I was doing so, they gathered by the red rose bushes as Steven exclaimed, 'My bounty is as boundless as the sea. My love as deep; the more I give to thee. The more I have, for both are infinite.' You know...Romeo and Juliet shit. Well, he didn't necessarily say that, but you know what I mean. And once again, I was third-wheeling. There's nothing wrong with that; I just didn't want to see more love blossoming. It was starting to make me feel sick.

Through a path, there was a creek. A tiny, wooden bridge went over it and, I walked over to it. I was slouched against the railing, looking into the water. From a distance, I could hear Jenna and Steven giggle with each other. 

I sighed, rolling my eyes. 

Don't get me wrong; I'm glad Jenna was happy with him, but it was honestly making me sad. Every time I saw people together doing lovey-dovey things, it felt like I was missing something. And maybe I was. It's like the world was giving everyone love, but where was mine? Was I really going to be left alone to watch Disney movies and eat a whole pint of ice cream by myself? I just...wanted to do that with another person. Welcome to my silly little life (insert smiling face here).

Jenna also took us to the art and history museums and to dinner. The art museum was filled with naked women and abstract art, of course. As for the museums, there was so much culture that it was hard to remember what exactly was there. And, as predicted, they oodled over each other to where I had to look away. Didn't they know what PDA was? I didn't want to see her sitting on him and whispering in his ear. Save that for the bedroom... 

But I did manage to get through those couple of days pretty well. It was the freest time I had since I was always at home doing chores.

In the other world, Ned, Michelle, and I had our first study sesh together. Of course, it was a lot of goofing around and such. But Michelle actually did help us with our homework. I was surprised because once she would explain all these math problems, they instantly clicked in my brain. Midtown was a school full of science, math, and smart people. I did not go to a school like Midtown; mine was...below average, to say the least. But Ned and Michelle were prodigies! And apparently, I was too. My grades were in tip-top shape, and, according to Ned, I was almost as smart as Peter. That was quite a shock. I heard he was quite a nerd.
