"aera!" a voice exclaimed.

jaemin flinched and immediately pulled his mask up as the both of us turned to the voice.

"oh shoot," i muttered.

"sorry yeona. i got carried away," i apologized, standing up.

"oh i see what's going on here?" she teased, taking her coffee from my hand.

"no .. no you don't see what's going on here because nothing is going on," i replied.

i was nervous for jaemin because, knowing how cautious he was earlier, i didn't want cameras to suddenly appear.

i looked at jaemin and gave him a little signal with my hand to stand up and go, making him clear his throat.

"well i've got to go," jaemin started, "i'll text you later?" he asked, looking down at me.

i smile and nodded as jaemin said bye to yeona and i and left.

my eyes followed jaemin's figure as he exited the building, but yeona pulled me into the booth and leaned in.

"so tell me .. who is he?" she asked, wriggling her eyebrows.

"he's- he's no one," i replied.

"aera, honey, we've been friends ever since birth and i can tell when you lie," she sighed, "that boy is clearly not just a 'no one' if you look at him like he's your world."

"what?" i asked, shocked by her words.

"jaem- he isn't my world. i barely even know the guy," i said, saving myself from exposing jaemin's identity.

"so you are locking eyes with a guy you don't know? you're telling me that my best friend did not just sit in this very booth with a boy and stare at him while he stared back at you with a smile on his face?"

"you saw that?" i froze, "how much of that did you see?"

"only the part where you leaned in and said something, which made him lean in and say something back and then smile at you," she replied, leaning back.

i was going to reply, but yeona put her hand up in the hair to stop me.

"nope. don't even start. i don't wanna hear it. if you don't want to tell me then you don't have to," she playfully sighed, trying to act hurt.

her act stopped once she let out a gasp, "please do not tell me the reason why you and seojun ended things was because you had a fling with this café guy."

"what?!" i exclaimed.

"yah- i am not the ty- i wouldn't- i can't believe you would think that," i scoffed, shaking my head.

"yea? well i'd think anything if you got my coffee order wrong," she said, taking a sip of her coffee and making a face.

"this .. this is too strong," yeona let out, looking at the label and then widening her eyes.

"f-four? shots? of? expresso??" she asked.

"what??"

i took the cup out her hand and read the order label, snickering, "jaemin must've taken the wrong cup."

i took my phone out and hit jaemin's contact.
