Ch. 2011: Selection Competition (1)
At last, the selection competition between the various schools was about to begin. Nearly a
thousand schools set out together at the last moment to take their teams to the largest city in the Howling Abyss—Hidden Dream City. Hidden Dream City was the central city in the Howling Abyss. It covered more than ten times the
area of other large cities. The lord of the undead, the Ancestor of the Undead, stayed there.
The selection competition was directly held in Hidden Dream City, which showed that the Ancestor of the Undead attached great importance to this competition.
The elites of all the major schools had come out, and all the participants brought out their full hundred-and-twenty-percent ghting spirit, ready for the upcoming battle.
Kehr was in charge of all the matters concerning the team of Deathre Academy. Shen Yanxiao
accompanied Kehr to Hidden Dream City with the whole Flaming Red Squad. The undead guards in
the city had prepared accommodations for the members of Deathre Academy.
As the commander-in-chief of the undead army of Howling Abyss, Kehr used some of his authority
to elevate the accommodation of the Deathre Academy team, directly having them stay in the
largest inn of Hidden Dream City. During the competition, all the inns in Hidden Dream City would be used to house the contestants.
As luck would have it, as soon as the Flaming Red Squad arrived at the inn where they would be
staying, they met a group of acquaintances…
Clad in black robes, Fengling and his companions stood on the ground oor of the inn, and Shen
Yanxiao with the Flaming Red Squad directly bumped into them. When Fengling saw Yan Di and the rest, a little surprise ashed through his eyes.
Their encounter in the Forest of Death had left deep impressions on both sides.
Fengling frowned slightly. He looked at Kehr before walking away silently with his companions.
“Mentor Kehr, the Royal Academy team lives here too?” After Fengling’s group left, Shile asked, somewhat surprised.
Kehr smiled and replied, “Yes. The Royal Academy has a very strong team. They are your most
formidable adversary. You should be careful.”
Kehr didn’t know that the Flaming Red Squad and the Royal Academy team had already met in the
Forest of Death and that their teams had already clashed. He just casually made a funny remark.
The corner of Shile’s mouth twitched slightly.
“Formidable adversary… more like mortal enemy.” Shile murmured.
“Hm?” Kehr looked at Shile. Shile immediately lowered his head.
Kehr soon helped the Flaming Red Squad nalize their accommodations. In this competition, Kehr and Sal would be responsible for the safety issues in the whole event, so after helping the members of the Flaming Red Squad settle down, he left.
As soon as Kehr left, the Flaming Red Squad became less formal in front of Shen Yanxiao.
“Boss, are we really going to live here?” Shile looked sadly at Yan Di.
After returning from the Forest of Death, this group of naughty brats directly changed their honoric for Shen Yanxiao from mentor to… boss.
Shen Yanxiao was speechless about this new title. Suddenly, she had the illusion that she had
become the leader of a group of bandits.
“Otherwise?” Shen Yanxiao replied.
“But… aren’t you afraid we’ll end up ghting with those guys?” Shile watched Shen Yanxiao. The members of their Flaming Red Squad and those guys from the Royal Academy had little chance of coexisting in harmony. In the Forest of Death, they were almost planted to the ground by Fengling’s hands. They already decided that they would get back at them in this selection competition. Who knew that they would be met with such a coincidence? They actually lived in the same inn as
those Royal Academy students! Meeting so frequently like this, couldn’t a ght break out at any minute?Ch. 2012: Selection Competition (2)
Shen Yanxiao took a look at the several young undead whose ghting spirits were ignited. She opened her mouth and said lightly, “You can ght, but you can’t lose. If you lose, you have to clean
your neck and wait for me to cut it o.”
Their mentor’s words made the members of her Flaming Red Squad laugh.
“Boss, you have no faith in us!”
“We are not the same today as we were yesterday. Watch us properly; in this competition, we will never humiliate you, boss!”
The group of teenagers opened their mouths with laughter and condence.
The undead passing by were somewhat surprised to see these energetic young undead. Such a
vigorous group hardly appeared among them. Undead were mostly taciturn and gloomy, so such a joyous atmosphere was a rare occurrence.
“Talk less and act more. If you can’t even pass the prelims, you’re going to die.” Shen Yanxiao spoke with a smile. In the Forest of Death, the members of the Flaming Red Squad had gradually changed
their way of getting along with her, which made her miss some of her friends in the Radiance Continent.
The attitude of Vicious Wolf and others was probably like this towards Du Lang.
“We will never let Boss down!” The group of teenagers responded with gentle laughter.
Shortly afterwards, the members of the Flaming Red Squad went to their rooms to rest. The
selection competition would begin two days later, and this was the time set aside for any nal adjustments.
Shen Yanxiao also went to her room. Before she could sit down, Taotie rushed out of her body.
Shen Yanxiao told the members of the Flaming Red Squad that it was not suitable for Taotie to
appear in the Hidden Dream City during the competition, so she left him in Deathre Academy; but,
in fact, she had summoned Taotie back to her body before they left Deathre Academy.
“What’s wrong?” Shen Yanxiao looked at Taotie who had an anxious appearance. These days, Taotie’s behavior had been somewhat abnormal.
Taotie blinked his big eyes as he looked at Shen Yanxiao then he said eagerly, “Master, I have
received a message from Vermillion Bird through our spiritual link.”
Shen Yanxiao’s eyes ashed a trace of surprise. Previously, Taotie said that he could sense Vermillion Bird’s presence. She thought it was just a mistake. But these days, Taotie’s perception of Vermillion Bird seemed to be getting stronger and stronger.
“Vermillion Bird said… He and Lord Xiu have come to the Howling Abyss. I told them that we are in Hidden Dream City, they will come soon.” Taotie excitedly said.
Shen Yanxiao gaped and her mind was blank. How long had she been in the Howling Abyss? Shen Yanxiao herself might not be able to calculate, because every night during this period she was only thinking about unlocking the layers of the seal as soon as possible, so she could leave the Howling Abyss and return to the Hidden Dragon Continent.
For this reason, she tried her best to cultivate and train, and improve her death energy in the
shortest possible time.
She had never thought that Vermillion Bird and Xiu would pursue her all the way here.
Are we really going to see each other soon?
“Master?” Taotie’s voice had a tinge of tension.
Shen Yanxiao quickly returned to her senses. Her cheeks suddenly felt a hint of coolness, she raised her hand in surprise and brushed it against her cheeks. There was a faint glint of water on her ngertips.
“Master, Vermillion Bird and Lord Xiu will come to us soon. Master, don’t worry.” Taotie carefully
stretched out his hand and grasped Shen Yanxiao’s clothes. His big, timid eyes were full of worries. His master was crying… Was it because she missed Lord Xiu and Vermillion Bird?
Shen Yanxiao took a deep breath and wiped away the moist corners of her eyes. She reached out and hugged Taotie in her arms tightly, as if embracing that one lofty soul.
Xiu, have you come to pick me up?
