A road trip was just the thing for me and my friends. I grinned as I ran into our new base, it was a pretty sad base given that it's just an abandoned warehouse, honestly when did we take a page out of the villains books?!?!? I shook my head to get my mind back on topic, I needed to find everyone else. I soon found them all lounging around in the main room, they were all feeling down, I don't blame them though, just last week Wally West, the previous Kid Flash, sacrificed himself for the rest of us to live. Nobody has really recovered, our team leader even decided to take a break from the hero gig, so, that's why I've decided to get the younger members of our team to go on a road trip with me!
"Guys! I've got the best idea ever!" I shouted, excitement evident in my voice. I was barely keeping my excitement contained, I was worried I might burst at any moment. Bart looked over at me, Garfield stood up and faced me, Robin glanced over at me, Cassie looked up at me, Virgil, our newest member, looked up at me curious, but Jaime, he didn't even look up from the floor.
"What's the idea Sunshine?" Bart asked speeding to be in front of me. I grinned widely at him, before holding up a set of keys, keys to my families camper.
"Road trip!!!!!" I exclaimed, Bart looked confused, Cassie grew excited and jumped up clapping her hands together, Garfield grinned slightly and nodded rapidly, Virgil and Robin shared a glance before shrugging and nodding, Jaime still didn't move. I walked over to Jaime as Cassie explained what a road trip was to Bart. I knelt down in front of Jaime as he sat on the couch, I placed my hands on his knees, trying to look him in the eyes but he kept avoiding eye contact.
"Jaime? Please, this will be fun. It'll take your mind off everything, give you a chance to reset." I pleaded with him, I needed my little blue bug to be ok. He slowly looked up at me before sighing and nodding.
"Not like I really have a choice, do I?" He asked, his Spanish accent seeping in. I grinned widely and shook my head.
"Nope! Now c'mon! We gotta pack, we're gonna be gone for a month!" I cheered, everyone else chuckled at my enthusiasm before going to pack.

It had been about a week since we started our road trip, and so far, everyone seemed to be having fun. I was happy that everyone was enjoying themselves, it was a good break from our hero gig and let us be kids again. Virgil was able to fit in quite nicely and Bart wasn't doing too bad for being stuck in a vehicle, but if it got too bad we usually just pulled over and let him run around for a while, it was like we had a puppy with us on our trip! I giggled to myself at that thought, Jaime looked over at me, curious about what I was laughing at, he and I were usually the ones driving, it was my turn right now, he was just being co-pilot.
"What're you laughing at hermosa?" I shook my head, pretending to seal my lips and miming throwing a key away. He chuckled before shaking his own head. "Alright then, keep your secrets." I giggled again.
"Was that a Lord of The Rings reference?" I asked, glancing at my Hispanic beetle briefly before returning my eyes to the road. He smirked, but then rolled his eyes and seemed exasperated by something.
"Si, it was." I watched him from the corner of my eye as he seemed to be fighting the urge to shout at someone, more than likely his scarab, Khaji Da, they had started to get along, but they still had their moments. I heard Bart tapping his foot a mile a minute behind us in the camper, I could tell he was getting impatient.
"Are we there yet??!?!" He groaned, I chuckled before shaking my head.
"No, sorry Bart. Just a little further." Robin stepped in luckily and tried to keep Bart and Gar busy and entertained so I could focus on driving. I sent him a silent thank you in my head before refocusing on the road. I heard Cassie shuffling around and start chatting with Virgil quietly, it was nice and peaceful for about five minutes, then,
"Let's play a game!" Bart exclaimed. I knew from his tone that it may not be a good idea to agree, but he needed to do something, so it was either this or let him run for a bit and not make it to our destination in time. I sighed before nodding my head.
"Alright, so long as you don't involve me. I need to focus on the road." I responded, as I switched lanes. Jaime groaned before agreeing as well, soon they all started playing I spy, it slowly became 20 questions, then it turned into would you rather, and finally, truth or dare. I chuckled at some of the dares given to people, I felt bad for some of them but others were pretty funny from what I could hear. Then, Bart decided to torment Jaime.
"Jaime! Truth, or dare." I could hear the gears churning in Jaime's head, I could tell the scarab was telling him all the possibilities of both options. Finally Jaime decided on truth, that was a bad idea apparently.
"Who's your crush?" I burst out laughing at this, everyone, minus Jaime, looked at me confused.
"Have fun Jaime!" I sang, I could feel him glaring at me. Then I could tell the scarab had said something bad, given how quickly his head whipped around to glare (as best he could), at his back.
"Callate! He's my friend, he's not going to use this against us, besides, it's not really a crush per say...." He trailed off at the end, rubbing the back of his neck. I could tell the team was confused by this, other than Rob and Cassie, they were starting to piece bits together I think. I smirked at their confusion and at Jaime's annoyance.
"What do you mean her-man-o?" I chuckled at Bart's poor attempt at hermano. I glanced at Jaime briefly, he was already looking at me, I nodded subtly at him. He sighed before facing our friends.
"It's more of a, who am I dating......" He trailed off once more, Bart and Garfield both nearly exploded at this.
"WHAT!?!?!?!?" They both exclaimed in shock, I realized that if Bart was confused, then the future must not have ever mentioned if Jaime was ever with someone before he went "bad". I smirked at their shock and kept my gaze on the road. Virgil was mostly confused by what was happening, I had a feeling he may already know and he thought that everyone else knew already.
"Hermosa, stop smirking, it's not making this any easier." I laughed at Jaime saying that, I finally pulled up to our destination as the sun started to set. I turned the engine off and turned to face everyone else finally. I smirked at Jaime, an evil glint in my eyes, I had the look that screamed I'm-going-to-do-a-thing-that-you'll-disprove-of-but-you-can't-stop-me, you know, that look. Jaime sighed at me, I then leaned over and kissed the corner of his mouth. He huffed at me as his face flared a bright red. I grinned at this before looking at our team, Bart and Garfield were shocked, Virgil and Rob kinda just shrugged but Cassie squealed and started cheering about how we were together. I laughed at my friends antics before looking back at my boyfriend.
"Did you really have to do that?" He asked, an annoyed and exasperated look on his face, but his eyes, those were twinkling with joy. I smiled at him as I nodded.
"Yes, but don't act like you hated that. We both know you loved it." He huffed before leaning forward and stealing a kiss from me. He pulled away and I noticed that he looked annoyed.
"Dios mio, por favor Khaji! For once, just let me enjoy my girlfriend, without you chattering away at me!" I laughed at my boyfriend's misery, yeah, the team needed this road trip. Maybe even the scarab needed this.
