Unexpected

4. "hey cute skater boy who knocked me over!"

Charlotte stood outside, adjusting her ponytail as she looked around at the other classes. Then she caught sight of someone she wanted to speak to. So she wandered up to him, her ponytail swinging lightly. "Hey, cute skater boy who knocked me over!" she called teasingly. He turned around, letting out a laugh and began walking over to her. "Pretty musical girl who I knocked over, hey!" he laughed, stopping as he reached the wire fence. She leant against it with her stunning smile. "Actually, Charlotte" she stuck her hand through a gap for him to shake. "I know, Ricky" he shook her hand. "I know" she teased. "ready for auditions?" he asked. "Born ready" she grinned. "Who are you going to audition for?" he questioned. Just then, her teacher called them all over. "Oops, saved by the whistle, see you" she winked, before jogging over to join the others in her class.

At lunch, Charlotte and Lucia sighed in unison without meaning to. Their friends were just staring, not uttering a word. "You two are starting to concern me" Charlotte states. "Having a crush on a straight boy is hard" he sighed, pouting as he walked past them all. Lucas threw his rubbish into the bin, before returning to his seat, sliding his arm over the girl Charlie assumed was his girlfriend. "Try being me, my life has never been hard" Aurora whines, whilst glaring daggers into the back of ninis head as she rested it on ejs shoulder. "You two are pathetic" Charlotte sighed. "Shut up" Aurora and Charlie mumbled in unison.

"Are you not nervous?" Charlie questioned as they walked into the theatre. "No" Charlotte answered simply, playing with her hands. "Sure you aren't" Charlie replied, smirking slightly. "Way to encourage your best friend" Charlotte sighed. "I believe you called me pathetic earlier" Charlie pointed out. "Shut up and get back to planning your date with Lucas in your head" Charlotte shot back, with a slight smirk on her lips. "It's not a date! It's a tutoring session!" he defended, his voice growing louder which caused them to get some strange looks. "But you wish it was a date" she lowered her voice, still smirking.

Charlotte stood next to Aurora as they watched the warm ups. Her eyes fell on number one, she was amazing. "Who's that?" she asked, as Lucia popped up at her sisters side. "Who?" the brunette questioned. "Number one" Aurora answered. "Gina Porter, sophomore, transfer student, very talented" Lucia answered, after a moment or two of thought. "Interesting" Aurora and Charlotte muttered in unison, before Charlotte slipped away. She headed off in search of Charlie and found him talking to one of his 'baby gays', his own words.

"Hey" she grinned, leaning an arm on his shoulder, "Seb right?" The boy nodded, smiling softly at her. "Who are you auditioning for?" he asked, making conversation effortlessly. "Ryan" Charlotte answered without hesitation. Sebs smile grew, he wasn't the only one who wanted to play a different gender. Before he could respond, Miss Jenn called them all onto the stage.

Charlotte found herself in between Seb and Aurora, standing confidently on the stage, despite her butterflies. "You're reading for Ryan right?" Miss Jenn came up to Seb. Charlotte had a feeling, when she saw the look on his face. "I think he'd rather play Sharpay" She told Miss Jenn in unison with Carlos. "That is so fresh" Miss Jenn commented, before moving on to Charlotte. 

"Now you" she stopped, pausing for thought. "Ryan" The blonde answered without missing a beat. "I like that. I love that, give her the Ryan stuff" Miss Jenn told Carlos. Charlotte shared a grin with Charlie and Lucia off stage, as Aurora was easily handed the Sharpay script. "We are going to rock this" She told her sister confidently, before calling for Lucia. "Hair tie" she ordered. Lucia scrambled, but found one and handed it to Aurora. "Thanks" Aurora muttered, before walking off to go and wait for her turn. 

Charlotte was called and she walked onto the stage. "What do I need to know" Miss Jenn whispered to Carlos. "Charlotte Evans, senior, stunning clearly, loved by everyone, third most instagram, followers, real life Ryan" Carlos informed her. "Whenever you're ready" Miss Jenn looked up too Charlotte. The music began to play but she held her hand up. "If you don't mind, i'd like to sing my own song?" she asked, her confidence not wavering at all. Miss Jenn turned to Carlos, who nodded enthusiastically. "Go ahead" she grinned. Charlotte nodded gratefully and began to sing,

Her voice echoed around the theatre, everyones eyes widening at her talent. "Wow" Miss Jenn breathed as she finished, "Are you sure you don't want to audition for Gabriella?" Charlotte shook her head firmly, she had never found Gabriella interesting or someone she wanted to play. "Very well, let's read."
