Avery's POV(not edited)
Who is Amanda Picket? Why is she ruining my chances? I know it isn't her fault, but damn her! My life isn't a fairytale where "dreams" come true. I still want a happy ending though. You can call me naivé and irrational, but I think Damien might be interested in me. Maybe assuming at this stage is an idiotic thought. Who am I kidding? Yes, it is! I don't care though. A girl can dream, right?
I began searching the room for this certain girl. Mr. Barnes was already calling out different names, which gave me the opportunity to ask Damien. Without hesitation I poked him on the shoulder.
Feeling close already?
Hell yeah!
"Yup? How can I help you, boss?" Damien said in an employee-like manner. The professionalism was cute and it fit him perfectly. Everything about him is amazing. His eyes are so captivating, while his lips are so luscious. I wonder how it feels to have them on mine? I bet it would taste like sweet Halloween candy and chocolate soufflé. Basically, delicious.
There I go again! Thinking about him in a creepy way. How can one person be so attracted to a guy she barely knows after few days? It's so pathetic on my part and impressive on his. This is completely ridiculous! I'm not that clueless about the crush department, but this is too much. Love at first sight? Of course not! It's the raging hormones. My mom was right. Teenage life can lead you to unusual actions.
"Who is Amanda?" I ask innocently with a bit of obvious suspicion. I can never be accepted in drama club if I don't improve my acting skills as soon as possible. Fortunately, Damien is easy to fool. He just took it as a casual question instead of a delusional, jealous admirer fishing for answers concerning a person, who might not even be a threat.
"Me" a person said from our backs. Both Damien and I, turned our heads in light speed to look at the source. There stood a gorgeous red-headed girl in a white sundress that showed off her curvaceous and slender figure. She had pale white skin and emerald green eyes. This goddess-looking person also had all the desired features on her face. Nonetheless, a person a girl would envy, and a person a guy would chase after.
"Oh! Hey...I'm Damien. This is Avery. Are you new?" Damien said politely. She answered with a yes and continued the conversation. They just kept on talking and talking while I stared at her - astonished. It's part of female nature to feel intimidated and try to take her limelight, but all I wanted to do was watch two beautiful people get to know each other. If there were pills to instruct the body to use locomotion, I would be pouring the whole plastic container in my dry mouth. This is the second time that I play the unmovable freak. Frankly, it isn't fun.
"Avery Delton, You will be working with Claire Stevens," Mr. Barnes said. His eyes were wondering around the room. It seemed like he was looking for nobody else but Claire. Unfortunately, Mr. Barnes forgot Claire is in a vacation with her parents. What I know is that her parents are going to break the news they both dreaded to say to her-divorce. The poor thing thought they were celebrating her parents' eighteenth year of marriage, but it turns out to be a terrible confession of their departure from a whole family.
It depresses me to hear something like that. After years of loving an individual, you end up in a bitter separation. People always think of love as a permanent feeling, but it is just a stage most people experience before being broken hearted. I'm not an atheist of
love. I just don't think love is for everybody.
"Oh! Claire is in a vacation with her family...something I don't have," he said snapping me out of my thoughts. He then mumbled under his breath, "I'm going to die alone".
