i walked into school on monday morning with the intention of laying low, which was going pretty well. people were talking about the party but no one said anything to or about me.

i was confident that i hadn't made a complete fool of myself and that it would be a lot easier to forget about that party.

that is until lunch rolled around. me, corbyn and our friend Daniel were all chatting about hanging out one day before christmas holiday, when we entered the lunch room. they were both visiting their home towns for break, so we'd be apart.

we attended what was considered an institute rather than a school. we lived in Miami Florida, aka, the devils asshole.

the institute was known for its various sports teams. we had, lacrosse, basketball, football, soccer, swim, softball, baseball, gymnastics, field hockey, volleyball, track and cross country, fencing and about a million other sports.

the school was weird, instead of standard nine months of school, we had 10. the first five months, july 20th to december 19th, was what they called Break Class. it was like a normal school, you'd have class until 3 then go home and shit.

but after christmas holiday we had Lock Class. the last five months, January 7th to June 6th, we were basically at boarding school. we moved into dorms and stayed there instead of going home every day.

it was made that way because second term is when most sports start getting busy and practices run later. so instead of heading home at like 10 pm, we could just go to our dorms.

it was already december and we would have break in less than two weeks.

i was enrolled into The Institute because i had a weird talent for volleyball and i was super fast so i ran track and cross country.

daniel played volleyball and basketball, corbyn swam and played soccer. we didn't hang with the sporty crowd though, most of them were jerks

"my parents won't be home, we can use my place" dani said.

"sounds cool, what about you z, you down?" corbyn said.

"well, duh. i think-"

"hey lil man!" a shout sounded around the noisey cafeteria and i didn't think much of it and continuted to talk to my friends.

"i know you heard me!" i looked up, a little frustrated at being cut off again and see that most eyes are on the three of us.

"what?" i looked at corbyn and daniel, corbs shrugged and daniel looked askance.

"me?" i asked, not too loud but loud enough that they could hear
me if they wanted to.

"yeah you, come over here! you and your friends come sit with us!" a boy, who i now knew was Andrew Novelle called us over. hesitantly, i walked over and sat in an open spot next to a girl who patted the seat.

"um, hey?" i said.

"bro, you were rad at the party friday night" the Swim captain, Jonah Marais said.

"i-i was?" my eyebrows were furrowed, i glanced around the table and realised that there was one open seat reserved for Jack Avery. fuck. this is his lunch table.a

"yeah, totally. so like, are you guys a thing?" Cody Evans, a boy who played lacrosse said, pointing between me and daniel.  cody was more of bad boy type, dark clothing. smoker.

"m-me and dani? n-no." i choked, "dani, why would he ask that?" the brunet shrugged and i looked back at cody.

"oh, lil dude doesn't remember the party!" one guy, Cash Evans, cody's twin said. he was definitely a surfer, contrasting cody's style with lighter colors.
